2011/12 UEFA Women's Champions League thread

The 2011−12 UEFA Women's Champions League will be the eleventh edition of the European women's championship for football clubs. The final will be held in Munich, Germany on 17 May 2012.
As in the past two Champions League seasons, the eight highest ranked nations get two entries to the tournament. The point of entry was changed this season however. In the previous years the national runner-ups had to enter the qualification round. With those teams always easing through their groups, with the exception of Umea in 2010-11, UEFA decided to give those a direct entry to the round of 32. As a result, eight nations which had direct entry to that round now will have to go through the qualifying stage.

The qualifying games are played as a group where one team host each game. I will use bold to indicate the host.

Even fewer people care about this.

I found a few things quite interesting if you look at the stage each time starts. One thing I saw that is totally crazy is that the champions of Kazakhstan get a bye to the round of 32 but the champions of Spain have to take part in the mini qualifying tournament.

Interesting that as an Arsenal fan that you would not know this since they have one of the more elite teams in all of Europe. They won the whole thing in 2006/07. That year they also won the women;s premier league and the women's FA Cup.

Women's football is awful.
