Even without injuries, if the team is in a losing position, O'Shea is very useful tactically as he can be pushed forward, giving a greater attacking impetus without wasting a substitution.
Not having a go, I'm just incredulous. He picked Eboue because he's an Arsenal fan, I can't understand why you'd pick O'Shea because no bias factors in.
I think the point of the poll is to name the best player for their position, not to create a functioning team. It would probably be very different if it was.
As I say I'm a big fan of him, I think he gets a lot of criticism even though he's very consistent. Obviously at his best Neville was better in that particular role, but O'Shea's an extremely solid player and his versatility just edges it for me. If I didn't already know Neville would win I might have voted differently I suppose, I felt he deserves some recognition though.
I'm trying to create a functioning team, that's why I argued Gerrard shouldn't be picked in CM because we would have probably ended up with two midfielders who are too attacking. If it's just the best player in each position I don't understand why we'd have 2 centre backs, 2 CMs and 2 strikers.
