If you want someone who will sit infront of the backline effectively, then yes, i'd take Carrick or Parker over Wilshere. I appreciate that Carrick has been doing well and trying to get rid of his "absolutely shit" reputation recently, but still
.Parker....I do think that he's being overrated because he's a good player at a shit team. If I'm going to have someone holding in midfield.......it's got to be someone who's got more about him imo
I'd settle for Parker I guess.....but then I'd have to take out either Downing or Wilshere.

I agree Carrick and Parker are nnot the best of midfielders to break up play (I wouldn't even call them true defensive midfielders) but it's all England have to work with in that squad so there's not much we can do about it. I'd feel a lot safer with Parker in the team, who can actually tackle, than watching Wilshere and Lampard struggle to cope with their attacking and defensive roles.
