such a dilapidated list of keepers(apart from Hart) and strikers to be honest. Makes you realize how poor England are

Re: England Squad to face Switzerland
If you want someone who will sit infront of the backline effectively, then yes, i'd take Carrick or Parker over Wilshere. A partnership of Wilshere and Lampard wouldn't be practical in this match seeing as Wilshere will never be a defensive midfielder for England or Arsenal.Lux wrote:polska. wrote:Who Poland?
yah we have several good players abroad.. quite a few in Poland too, but our NT is a complete fucking joke.
Poland faces Argentina's B team soon, I hope they absolutely demolish us like 8-0 or something, maybe that way we can get Smuda sacked.
No, England
Young, Baines, Bent, Downing......all players who on the international stage are underrated because they play at smaller clubs....they've all had limited chances and when they do play it's usually vs weak sides or everyone around them is weak and it makes them look bad too (e.g. that Brazil game in Qatar)Steadman wrote:Lux wrote:-------------Hart----------------

Wasn't exactly going to have Carrick or Milner over Lampard.
Tbh it was more of a question of "Would either Milner or Carrick be better than Wilshere?"
I would personally take Young/Downing out of the squad, move Wilshere forward and play either Parker or Carrick.

Re: England Squad to face Switzerland
I never said they'll sit infront of the defence
It's essentially a 4 man attack......and Lampard and Wilshere with the help of Johnson and Baines pushing up will keep possession.
I'd have Carrick or Parker but......I'm really not keen on having either whatever their capacity due to a lack of all round quality.

I appreciate that Carrick has been doing well and trying to get rid of his "absolutely shit" reputation recently, but still .
Parker....I do think that he's being overrated because he's a good player at a shit team. If I'm going to have someone holding in midfield.......it's got to be someone who's got more about him imo
I'd settle for Parker I guess.....but then I'd have to take out either Downing or Wilshere.

This is Switzerland
We had the same kind of plan against them in Switzerland and demolished them.......
What's the point having a defensive player if they're going to be shit? Playing Barry is tactical suicide, I'd rather have no one holding then him.

Re: England Squad to face Switzerland
I still wouldn't like a midfield pairing of Lampard and Wilshere tbh, heck I don't even like a pairing of Wilshere and Song since Song suddenly became an attacking midfielder.Lux wrote:I never said they'll sit infront of the defence

I agree Carrick and Parker are nnot the best of midfielders to break up play (I wouldn't even call them true defensive midfielders) but it's all England have to work with in that squad so there's not much we can do about it. I'd feel a lot safer with Parker in the team, who can actually tackle, than watching Wilshere and Lampard struggle to cope with their attacking and defensive roles.

We started Lampard and Wilshere in midfield at Denmark, and it didn't work tbh.

That's because we want to give the world a chance. Those morons forget that we invented the game, so technically, we always win..

True
Switzerland don't have Eriksen though

There's a reason Lampard and Gerrard never worked. It's the same reason that will stop Lampard and Wilshere working.

You do realise that nothing will take him away from his 'little england' approach? He feels part of the gang if he joins in.

Stupid cunts Frei and Streller finally retired, so I hope we line up like this.
Hitzfeld will most likely put Dzemaili to CAM and stupid relegated Schwegler to CDM
And if he doesn't play Shaqiri
We have nothing to lose anyway, almost no chances to get to the EURO

Where's Dawson? Where's Huddlestone? They've done more than Crouchie and Defoe, Dawson especially and with Huddlestone fit again he should be included, he is good enough.

Let's call up a defender and a midfielder then for 2 strikers. Excellent.easley91 wrote:Where's Dawson? Where's Huddlestone? They've done more than Crouchie and Defoe, Dawson especially and with Huddlestone fit again he should be included, he is good enough.

I meant they've done more in the season for Tottenham, not to replace the strikers directly. Just saying they deserve a call-up more than those two.Danny wrote:Let's call up a defender and a midfielder then for 2 strikers. Excellent.easley91 wrote:Where's Dawson? Where's Huddlestone? Probably isn't a case of that. If Crouch had Defoe didn't get a call up, who's there to replace them in the squad?easley91 wrote:I meant they've done more in the season for Tottenham, not to replace the strikers directly. Re: England Squad to face Switzerland
It's one game, not a whole bastard tournament. They should just call up 18 players and have done with it, if anyone gets injured in training then it isn't exactly hard to draft a replacement in, not as if they will be doing much...Danny wrote:Probably isn't a case of that.
