I think Messi has done enough to be considered one of the top 10 players of all time at least, but for me personally, winning a World Cup is still the ultimate prize, off the top of my head he'd be the only player who would make my top 5 without a World Cup to his name.

I never said that, but to be an all time great great you have to accomplish a few things, great play overall (which can only bee seen with the eyes) great stats, and an impressive trophy haul. The World's best players have shown that they've been able to win a World Cup (Pele, Maradona, Ronaldo, Beckenbauer) I see no reason not to hold the modern day player to the same standard, especially when he plays for one of the 'huge' WC nations (Brazil, Argentina, Germany, Italy etc.)

Messi has been world-beating for Barcelona and no where near that level for Argentina. You said he was the opposite for Argentina. So you are suggesting he is shit for Argentina. If you really do watch Argentina, you would see he is easily their best player and is consistent for them. It's not his fault that his teammates are Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro, etc. Of course he would perform better with those players around him, but he is still an amazing player with Argentina.

What is the opposite of great? Not great. Messi has been good, but no where near the level of great for Argentina so yes, I consider that the complete opposite of what he has been for Barcelona. I am not suggesting he is shit, I am saying he isn't great and that much is a fact. I would hardly call him amazing for Argentina and too be honest the recent Argentina teams are no where near as good as the Argentina teams with Batigol, Ayala, Veron, etc. It isn't hard to be the best player on the field for the current crop of Argentine players. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either.
