    Poll

If you were in Spurs or Liverpool's position would you want your team to qualify for the Europa League or not??

Qualifying for the Europa League Empty Qualifying for the Europa League

    Post by Scouser_Dave Mon May 02, 2011 4:24 am

Would you want your team to qualify for this if that was the only option left to fight for in the season? Or would you want to give it a swerve.

The downside is playing Thursdays and then having to reschedule games in the League.

Fuck that Europa tbh, lets say if we were in Liverpool's situation.. I'd rather not be in Europe and go for a CL spot without that distraction next season.

Yes, even if it means just playing your subs/reserves/youth it gives them game time and you get money.

Rather have 3 chances of winning a trophy than two next season, so I'd rather qualify.

I remember a lot of Liverpool fans saying they'd rather finish in the top 4 than win the Europa League.

I hope Liverpool get into it and at least give a few of the youngters a game and more experience. And hopefully by next season Liverpool will have a squad with at least the depth to stay in the cup competion's and also challenge for the top 4. Cause there are nothing that says we are certain to get into the top 4 next season and i would love to see Liverpool win something again aswell as trying for the top 4.

Yes i would still agree with that, but if it comes to a choice for the sake of the club i would rather finish 4th than win the Europa League although until that comes a choice between the two i would rather stay in Europe.

I would want to finish in a higher position as possible but I would only field reserves and second string players in the Europa league games as its not worth playing first team players in it imo.

End of the day, it's extra funds for the club. So how is it a bad thing?

Don't have to play full strength either.

In our situation, I would rather get into Europe, have a good run in the Europa League whilst also using the depth which we will hopefully create in the summer to challenge domestically.

Yes. Play the reserve team and if we win play our first team in the Super Cup (against winner of CL). 2 trophy chances so why not?

Why would you play your reserve team in a European competition, when it's one of 3 realistic chances you'll have to win a trophy next season? I can't understand that logic.

If United, a team who actually challenge to win the top competitions, were to drop out of the Champions League next season I'd be very happy if we won the Europa League. It'd be even moreso if we hadn't won anything since the Charity Shield in 2006.

Better financially, gives youth valuable experience on top of league cup games and players are attracted by Europe. No brainer for me now.

You'd play better players as you progress obviously.. Neutral

When you play teams like Rabotniki, Slovan Liberec, Celtic, Graz AK, TNS and that you'd play the ressies.

That doesn't have anything to do with my point. Laughing That was because we had a new squad and hadn't found a best starting line-up. That's besides the point also.

I totally agree with this. I would like to try and give a few youngters a chance but and give them some European experience but i would not play a full reserve team i would still want some of my top players involved, and especially as you have saiid when we have not won anything since the Charity shield.

No, that way we can have a clear fixture list next year when pushing for Champions League and be fresher for the end of season run-in.

Why do Spurs fans think they have a divine right in brushing of a European spot lol? Come back when you have 5 European cups, 3 Uefa cups and 3 super cups.
