Win the Europa League or qualify for the Champions League?

Which would you prefer?

Your team to finish outside of the top 3, thus not qualifying for the Champions League the following season. However you win the Europa Cup.

Your team to fail to win the Europa Cup, but finish in the top 3, thus qualifying for the Champions League the following season?

Depends on the team.

If it's a small club, then win the Europa League, because chances are you'll be kicked out of the CL early.

If you're a big club, then the Champions League because you'll be able to hold your own and attract bigger players.

Yes he does the reality is they would have a VERY hard time qualifying for the groups. Unless they are gifted someone like Standard Liege again who they only beat 1 - 0

Exactly, you don't qualify for the Champions League if you finish 4th, you qualify for the qualifiers.

There is no need to take it so literally. Let's just assume that your team WILL qualify for the CL, even if it means going through the qualifiers.

You seem to think I care about the result of the poll, I assure you I don't. Forum polls are very unreliable, there's a very large self-selection bias involved, it really doesn't mean anything.

And no the questions aren't the same. When Tottenham played Young Boys nearly a year ago, they were playing them in a Champions League QUALIFIER, after finishing in the top 4 the previous season. They would not need to play a qualifier if they had already qualified.

You're talking about the OP. The title and poll question are the same. He's just used an example in the poll.

No need to be pedantic about it, but then again, that's what people do as an escape when they've been proved wrong.

How have I been proved wrong?? I expressed a preference and found it strange that people would prefer to finish 4th in one competition over winning another. You need to grow up and stop all this trying to prove people wrong on the internet lark, you're in your 20s for fucks sake.

Rather qualify for the Champions League, than win the Europa cup.
