You know it's funny because, half the fucking fans who go the games now are day trippers any way, who are not even interested in football, it's seen as a day out.

I seen one lad sitting there one time, with a HD camera and fucking pac' lunch. Neutral

Weren't fucking interested in the slightest about the football, sat there all afternoon taking pictures and making videos, it was a day out to him, not interested in the football.

Where as the likes of my Dad and his mates don't go the game any more, they're happy to go the pub together and have a few pints and watch the match.

But according to Radford, day trippers like that are better than people like my Dad and his mates, purely for the fact because they are their.

    Pathetic.

We don't need medals or trophies, that is what makes us supporters.

So because you club has no medals, or trophies. That makes you a proper fan?

That isn't what I said. My point was supporters are supposed to be there cheering the team on regardless of trophy or medal count and we shouldn't need them.

At least there money is in the club though. Without them teams would be playing in stadiums that aren't full (not like Anfield is full often nowadays Wink ) which isn't very motivating for the team to walk out to.

Yeah there's a few in-front of me in 107 that spend more time, going to buy food, taking pictures, videoing, chatting and flirting with each other than watching the game. It's like a little womans union meeting just with cameras. And some of them must spend hundreds of pounds in the club shop, you see them nearly drowning in bags from there. think

Dean the only thing i said about going to the pub are people who choose on a Saturday to watch football on the TV for a club that they never have even watched live instead of going to the local club, helping your city, fucking winds me up.

If you can't see my point of view then you're narrow-minded.

No my Dad makes no attempt to go any more, he's been 4 European Cup finals, FA Cups, Leagues, you name it, he's done the lot, been everywhere you could think of. But certain things happened, Hillsborough etc... so he longer goes any more. He could go, but he doesn't.

But I know he's one of the most passionate football fans you could meet.

Where as these day trippers go because it's seen as the 'in thing' to do, they probably don't even know how many fucking league titles we've won.

But according to you, you have a problem with fans like my Dad and not people like him purely for the fact he 'goes' and makes an 'effort'. Fuck off, it's not hard to make an effort and go the match you know. You can buy a ticket easy if you know your people.

You can buy a ticket, you can't buy passion.

I heard Sunderland recently had a lot of trouble with people failing to go to the match and deciding to watch it at the pub instead.

It's a shame it's the Liverpool fans that have argued back in this thread. Out of all the top teams that people support on here, they do seem the most genuine supporters, bar a couple.

Well said. I just don't understand the attraction of supporting a side miles away on the tele, when in most cases the "fans" have a local league or non league side not too far from them. Really annoys me when I speak to Man Utd fans in Cheltenham who say "Cheltenham are shit, why do you support Cheltenham?" or when I'm asked "who's your premiership team?"

Tell you what, I'd much rather be watching Cheltenham score 4 goals in the last 10 minutes with 200 mad away fans at Burton Albion to win 6-5 then watch Man Utd thump Wigan 4-0 on sky sports. Where's the fun in that? Where's your connection to the club? And how are you supporting them?
