Wanna know something... My dad supported Leeds, my grandad supported Hull but barely went, my mums side didn't like football much but when they did it was Arsenal or Man U glory hunters.

And I support Hull, despite being encouraged the other way.

I don't care how old you are, you can make your own decisions and don't have to be forced to go to a game or support a club.

You made your own decision? Well think about this, because this is something I strongly believe in.

A supporter is not chosen, he/she is made.

I'd rather be Scotty's type of supporter than your type. You chose, nothing big in that, you don't have any emotional ties or nothing, you just thought, oh I'll support Hull because I live here. What type of fucking behaviour is that? And also, if you chose, you must of been quite old, so now you've revealed you ain't been into football that long either.

If your Dad supports Leeds, and your Granddad didn't go, then how did you go the match?

Our type are made and bread into it. You just simply chose on your own accord. Horrible. So I don't know why on this fucking planet you can't slating people with a background like that.

Or maybe think about the fact I support Hull City because I have emotional ties with the city itself? I didn't even bother reading past that bit of your post btw.

Or maybe you did read past that bit, but couldn't reply as you had nothing to say on the matter?

Fact of the matter is, you've just proved to us all, that you're no different from these 'people' that YOU seem to slander and criticise. You're no different from them at all and you're from the same mould as them. Got to an age were you could make your own decisions, realised football is now so to say a 'fashion' or the 'in thing' to do and thought, yeah I'll become a fan of football and so you started to like football.

People like me, Scott, Dan Jay D... we're bred into football, it becomes a part of us because of the emotional tie that is passed down from our parents and instilled within us. A bond is created, we don't choose the team we support, we given a team and then that team is instilled within you and then when you grow up, it's then a part of you. And that's why now, Liverpool Football Club, is not just a football team to me, it IS me, I feel as if I am part of them.

It's like the bond you have with your mum, because you can't choose your mum. That's why it's special.

Where as you CHOSE on your own accord to support Hull. That's totally different to what I said above, I'm not saying you're not passionate, or you don't know love Hull, but you ain't got that bond. So you're no different than all these fans you slate, which is the ironic thing.

So no you can shut the fuck up with all the criticising of fans, because the ironic thing is, you're the same as the ones you're slandering.

It's true and you know it, so I've got final thing to say to you. Deal with it.

Should of read my post after because I did end up reading past.

And your post really is ridiculous. I went to watch Hull BEFORE the buzz around the new stadium started, it just wasn't as family friendly at Boothferry Park, bear in mind i'm not even 10 at the time. The fact we had a new stadium was obviously a massive attraction for me to want to go to more, no longer would I be crammed and not able to see half of the pitch due blokes in front of me.

Just because something is passed to you, you do not have to like it. Matter of the fact is, anyone not from the big cities but claims to support their clubs is not doing it originally because they love it... That is a fact. Scotty started supporting Liverpool because it was a big club and he was told to (lol) Yeah, he may love them now.. but he had no connection whatsoever to start with.

What a fucking joke you are. Okay, tell me this then. What fucking club could I have had a connection with beforehand? Tell me.

Also, if my Stepdad was a Hull fan or a Grimsby Town fan, I would've supported them. 'cause I would've been brought up watching them etc, it just happened to be Liverpool. It had nothing to do with how big the fucking club was. I had no idea about football then so how was I to know who was a big club and who wasn't? Get your head out of your un-wiped arse.

Oh and Dean, we do "deal with it". We have no fucking choice when there is dickheads like Scotty slagging our clubs for being shit.

The thing is, if you was from a smaller city or even a town with a club that isn't winning all the time, you would understand how fucking annoying it gets people like Scotty saying shit all the time. Now this our reaction them idiots, forgive me if you are bored... But I don't give a shit.

Hum... This is a little bit hard to do when my town does not have a football club. What do you vote then? It would not be by choice to follow another team if you do not have your own team where you live.

It's not about where you're from that counts. It's about the connection you have with that club. I just so happen to be part from Liverpool and a Scouser, but I wouldn't feel any differently towards Liverpool if I was from Australia, because this connection has got nothing to do with where I'm from, it's purely between the club and me. Maybe being a local and from the same place, you know, maybe has something to do with it, but it's not important to me.

It doesn't matter where you're from.

I know it's not really the same. But we've had some of the worst few months any football fan could possibly have. Don't care what you think or what you've read. We could have gone bust with our previous owners. We had a shite manager and were slipping down the table playing some football so piss poor we lost to Northampton (who you have probably beaten as well).

Obviously, it's not the same as yours, but still.

My only problem is with people who claim to support a football team but only ever watch them on the TV.

I don't have a problem with people just because they support a premiership club.

Of course it matters, like I said... Supporting a club isn't just about the football, most clubs contribute to the local area, most clubs are one of the things the whole city is proud of. The club is a way of uniting the community. If you are supporting them on a footballing level only then that is wrong.

If you just enjoy watching football, why support a specific team?

I hold my hands up and say I have judged people and jumped to conclusions in the past when people have supported certain clubs. But the fact is if you "get" that club and the principles and history that's involved then good luck to you, that's what matters.

As long as you haven't got a Man Utd replica shirt on with a "green and gold" scarf on top. Or read the sun newspaper if you support Liverpool. If you get it then that's what counts, I've met people from all around the world that support clubs and they are so passionate and knowledgeable.

I wonder if people supported a team from league 2 in England or Liga Adelante in Spain and didn't live anywhere near the club if you would have the same problem.

I can see the point of going to the match and living near your club is important and to me it is, I feel a stronger bond that's for sure.

I can see both sides but that's my stand point on this. Smile

Maybe for Americans it should be the team you are closest to determines who your support. Here I am from the Pittsburgh area and while Philadelphia is in my state (pittsburgh does not have a team) we have a rather fierce rivalry in the various other American sports so that would not work out all that well.

This thread is going round in circles.

Can we get back to the original topic. Which was a simple yes or no to if you live in the same area of the club you support. Not discussing the fine points of what makes you a glory hunter/elite supporter.

If you want to do that, go and make a new thread for it.

Looks like we are singing off the same hymn sheet TBH. I dont feel a better fan for support a shit team, the only reason i support them is because my family are Hereford United and i'm from Hereford.

People from high end clubs who make the effort to try and afford a few matches a season i have no problem with. Only problem i have is the likes of people in Hereford sitting in a pub with a Liverpool shirt on never making an attempt to get to Anfield in their life.

Because you and James think you are the ideal fan, because you come from your clubs city, and you support a lower league club. It is pathetic. People all over the world, are connected to clubs for different reasons. Some because they come from the area the club is, some because they love a certain player ect ...

Same old argument, your not a proper fan because you don't come from where the club is. Grow up.

I know a so called 'Liverpool fan' that laughed at a Hillsbrough joke Neutral

Some lad at football a few weeks ago said it in the changing and rooms and most people laughed, including this 'Liverpool fan'

Same old story, lower league fans think they are superior. facepalm

Nice stereotype. Jesus fucking christ how stupid.

Grow up.

Fuckoff and read my view points ok? Idiot.

Ask dan [who i have been debating with].
