Mine is award a goal if denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity occurred closer than 12 yards from the goal. It's not fair to have someone commit a DOGSO 5 yards away from goal and then have the attacking team step 7 yards back with a possibility of missing a penalty. Since an automatic goal would be awarded, there is no need to send off or even caution the defending player who committed the foul.

If you could change or add a law...
If you could change or add a Law of the Game, what would it be?

Every international team had to have a manager of the same nationality.

FIFA have already banned snoods, so I don't think there is anything wrong with football anymore. Well done to them..

It's goal line technology. Simple as that.

The ability to challenge decisions twice per game via replay like Tennis

I was referring to FIFA Laws of the Game, but I guess rules regarding FAs and such work too. But let's be reasonable.

Oh yeah, how could I forget about goal line/video replay technology?
I like the idea of giving each team 3 opportunities to challenge any call (goal, foul, throw-in, etc.) in a game.

Mine would be, each team has 1 chance each to have replay at a referees decision so that, if a referee made a bad decision a team can decide to replay the referees mistake on a screen and if its a bad decision they have a chance to change the decision .

Like in Tennis? That is a really interestingly good idea.arsenaln1 wrote:Mine would be, each team has 1 chance each to have replay at a referees decision so that, if a referee made a bad decision a team can decide to replay the referees mistake on a screen and if its a bad decision they have a chance to change the decision .
But if the ref's decision was right, there should be a penalty for wasting time. (like in Tennis)

Re: If you could change or add a law...
Like in Cricket the referral system.
Each team has 4 referrals a match. If they refer a decision and it still goes against them they go down to 3 if it goes for them they would still have 4.
Already been said.
Would improve the national team, but like overseas players? so like 5 overseas players allowed for each team. And yes this is from Cricket as well.

Anyway, I think when you guys think of laws you should keep in mind that the world doesn't revolve around Britain.
For example, how many of you would be calling for international coaches being nationals of said nation had it not been for Capello?

I always thought the Manager should be a national since the Sven days, It just doesn't make any sense that foreign managers are actually allowed

Not sure I like the idea of having a certain amount of challenges on ref's decisions during the game. It works in games like tennis and cricket because they are very stop-start games where there are opportunities to challenge a call all the time. I couldn't see it working in football if I'm honest.
Goal line technology is a good shout if they come out with a reliable and efficient system for it.

Making rules to try and harm United is stupid, that rule in particular. Managers would sit at home and watch the match on TV and then phone in what they want to happen to their assistants.

That's not the same as being in the stadium and seeing everything.
I think communications (phone, text, etc.) should be banned in the technical area.

I agree with this, except only if the ball is stopped on the line with a hand. Even if it's an open goal from a yard out, we've seen players miss the target. If the ball was on its way in, then that's different, and a goal should be given.ahlycotc wrote:If you could change or add a Law of the Game, what would it be?

For example, the ball stopped 3 yards from goal and an attacking player is running towards it to tap it in the open net. A couple yards before the attacker reaches the ball, a defender tackles the attacker from behind to stop him from reaching the ball.
I think that should be awarded a goal.

A challenge system for review's wont work, mainly because football managers are cunts looking for anyway possible to slow down the game. A 'booth' review done by an outside official would be more effective, maybe a 5th official in the press box watching a game with a different view of the game, who can determine when a review is needed.

If you limit the reviews (2 or 3 per team per game) then it won't waste as much time. You can always add the time back at the end of the half.
Just in case anyone was wondering, you can't review a play until the ball is out of play anyways.

Even 2 or 3 is enough for a manager to use it in a scummy way, just look at how substitutions are handled, managers sub players off to waste time, and although the ref adds on time to compensate for that, it's almost never the exact same time wasted on the sub.
