What do Chelsea need to change?

Let's say AVB is given the rest of the season has the funds to buy anyone or sell anyone he wants.

What do you think he should do?

Buy some new players.

New midfield is a must for me (Mourtinho and Tiote maybe would be the ones I would want, but please do not take Tiote ), and a young centre back, Cahill being the obvious choice for me as he can be picked up for a bargain price in the transfer window.

Sort of the easy answer, but defense.

Get a good new CB, then play Luiz in midfield for a start. Then perhaps add to depth or get someone who can take over for Terry in some games, let him play less now he's looking a bit worn out.

I'd then maybe add another winger to the squad. Feel like Chelsea need a bit of an overhaul, it's not like they can't afford one.

Yeah I agree, Luiz need's to play midfield for sure.

Drogba, Malouda, Anelka, few others need to go in January then we need to bring in few youngsters that are really good.

He needs a defender that isn't a headless chicken to partner Terry.

A new Centre back and a new striker I think should be there biggest priority.

Their policy of sacking managers when the going gets tough.

I'm more referring to the summer than January to sort things out but Drogba, Kalou, Malouda, Mikel, Bosingwa and maybe Anelka all need to be sold.

Bring in a centre-back Cahill is respectable but in the summer they should really go for someone else like Rolando or pushing it Pepe

Bring in some more creativity in the midfield that Chelsea still lacks AVB obviously very keen on Moutinho or Modric they still have Essien to come back too.

Another winger maybe a more natural one like Hoilett or Reus, also buy David Villa who could leave Barca next summer

They need to buy some players and give him and them time, they need another centre back that can defend and they need some energy in midfield if they are going to play the way AVB wants them to. They could go out and spend 50 million on a top class striker, that should solve their attacking problems.

To get back to challenging for the title they need to get rid of Malouda and Kalou and sign somebody like Hazard or Gotze. Somebody needs to replace Lampard too. Modric ? Though that will be hard how as Spurs have been better than Chelsea.

Get a RB to rotate and challenge Ivanovic
And most importantly AVB needs to change his tactical approach.

AVB does not need to change his tactics at all.the CBs are slow and not aware most of the time to play the high line properly but if he can sign a good CB then it will work out very well.His tactics are great but they players are not great for the tactics

Doesn't matter if you're the best tactician in the world. If you players don't adapt to your tactics they aint working.
If Pep took charge of a L2 side and started playing his sort of football his team would probably get relegated.

Alex is the best CB partner for Terry out of all available defenders at Chelsea. But with Terry looking slow and Alex knocking on a bit, Cahill would be the first choice for them IMO.

Then maybe get Hummels or Subotić from Borussia Dortmund. Both good, young CBs.

Cahill isn't good enough.

Keep it how it is. Seeing Chelsea struggle is pretty entertaining

He's quite good already and will get better with time. He would be rotated with Alex/Terry one would assume.

Sure buying new players coud help, but they already have a squad more than capeable of playing good football, and winning.

Oh and movement in front of the ball really needs to improve a lot. Short term playing Alex instead of Terry might help....

Agree about Lampard if the Chelsea squad had the quality of a few years ago and he was performing like this he wouldn't be able to get into the team.

high line is myth its the same length between cech and central 2 as under ancelotti. these sky pundits are out of imagination and ideas in critique so the say the same things as eachother

those defenseive mistake is from individual errors of certain failing members of that team and to much space between midfield and defence allowing attacking player on other team to receive ball in space and able to turn to run at back 4 with no protection from midfield

There defence is a shambles

When is Essien back fit? He was a fantastic defensive midfielder for them. I think Tiote of Newcastle is in the same mould.

February I think he is back. Will add a lot more power to their midfield thats for sure.

They need to build a team around Torres. I still can't believe they still haven't learnt how to get the best out of Torres.
