Met him in 1989 in the pre season just after Hillsborough i remember looking in the reception area at Anfield and at the front Rushie was sitting have a cup of team with the recepionist and Grobbelaar was sitting playing a Mouth Organ and having a laugh and a wind up with the staff. Got my photo taken with him and he was so bloody funny,

Grobbelaar ended up not getting the £85k I think.

MLT's autobiography said he got £1 in damages, and had to pay the paper's legal costs.

You find me a statement from the House of Lords or the Supreme Court outlining Ferdinand taking drugs and I'll admit you were right all along. Rio Ferdinand has never been accused of taking drugs, if he had been, he would have faced targeted testing for the rest of his career.

Not 100% on how the law works on this but..

OCTOBER 2002 - House of Lords reinstates Grobbelaar's libel victory on a technicality - but reduces the award to £1.

In the end he paid £499,999 because, while technically his case had merit, the House of Lords found that he had behaved in a dishonest and corrupt way, and was, as The Sun asserted, a crook etc.

He was banned from Old Trafford and eventually jailed for eight months after facing trial in Liverpool.

I hate dishonesty in football, if a player retires and dies because of drinking, then that's a shame, but it's his problem. If Rooney doubts the ambitions of the club, then it's unfortunate, but football will go on. If bastards like Grubby liar and George Anderson are fixing matches though, that destroys any meaning in football, it's a much more serious problem.

For someone who has supposedly have been cheating he seemed to have actually played well in a lot of these games in question, and supposedly accidently pulled out some blinding saves in a lot of these games.
