who else is left
stop making such a big thing out of an armband
Seriously, Hart is to unexperienced, Parker would have been a possibility, but who cares if it's for one game

Yeah but the captaincy is being tossed around like it's nothing.
Barry don't deserve the armband Not IMO anyways.

He's the most experienced England player left though. I personally would have gave it to Wilshere despite his age, as Capello said he would be a future England captain. Would have been a good idea to give him some experience of the role tomorrow night.

Nah I wouldn't give it to Wilshere. A player that inexperienced should just be focussing on his game without having the added pressure of being captain.
Hart wouldn't have been a bad choice? I'm not sure whether it's a good decision or not to have Barry as captain for this game as we haven't seen the line-up yet.

Barry isn't that bad. He's probably the most capped player in the squad now, so no surprise it's been given to him. Captaincy is way too hyped up, it doesn't even make that much of a deal.
He wouldn't be close to next choice for City captain though, which just goes to show how weak the team he's playing against Ghana is.

Funny how some English people are like 'why are we over-complicating the captaincy' now you are a bit stuffy because Barry, one of the most experienced players (and possibly the most capped, which would mean Capello is doing it the Italian way) gets the armband? Typical double standard..

Fair enough, but it would have been good for him to get a bit of experience in the role as it would do him good for the future. But you have recommended Hart there, and he is sort've in the same boat as Wilshere. Top quality youngsters, but inexperienced.

I'd rather we called up Rodwell or Huddlestone for the first time over Barry.dena wrote:blackskar wrote:We may be shit (even though we're not) but we've still got much better then Barry available

Not that I give a fuck, hopefully Lampard, Gerrard, Wilshere and Parker are further ahead in Capello's plans now, and he's probably the most experienced player left in the squad atm.

It's not like he's the permanent captain though, and he probably won't even start in Euro 2012, seems like a lot of something over nothing.

Arent both Rodwell and Huddelstone injured?
EDIT: I do think that Rodwell should be the future DM for England, but it seems his progression is stagnant.

Gareth Barry wasn't even good enough for the bench on Saturday.
Even Cashley could of been captain if he plays..
Barry only has 45 caps.

I'd rather he never played for England ever again.dena wrote:kyro7 wrote:It's because Gareth Barry is shit.dena wrote:Funny how some English people are like 'why are we over-complicating the captaincy' now you are a bit stuffy because Barry, one of the most experienced players (and possibly the most capped, which would mean Capello is doing it the Italian way) gets the armband? Huddlestone is injured isn't he?
As for Rodwell... Well there's no reason to call him up. He's not even been playing well for some time. For what it's worth I think he's overrated.

He shouldn't even be in the squad.
