Scott wrote:In all seriousness though, Barcelona haven't been that great against English sides in the last 5 years.

The final against Arsenal was very close, and Arsenal played the majority of the game with 10 men! And Barcelona needed a late, late comeback.

Liverpool not only knocked them out, but beat them at their own ground and dominated them at Anfield. Liverpool were so unlucky in the second leg, hitting the bar a few times, and getting the ball cleared off the line several times. What a game that was though.

Barcelona were lucky against Chelsea, Chelsea were cheated out of that match. Not only that, but they scored a last minute, last gasp winner.

Barcelona beat Man United in the final 2-0.

Barcelona drew 2-2 with Arsenal, whilst Arsenal had a severely weakened side. Barcelona then went on to brush aside an even MORE severely weakened side at the Nou Camp.

    Bareclona lost 2-1 against Arsenal.

Yeah, not THAT impressive to me really.

Exactly. None of that is Barcelona's fault but it doesn't change the fact that it looms over them.

You can add this to all the other European uncertainty they've had e.g. Rubin Kazan.

A half fit Van Persie or a full fit Bedtner?

Yep, this is a huge game for Arsenal, possibly the biggest they will have all season. You need your best players in games like this, and i don't think Bendtner will be good enough for this one.

Just watching Revista now, Balague just been on and he says the general feeling from the Arsenal backroom is Van Persie has only got 20 minutes in him and it would be a big big risk if he started him.

This is not our biggest game. Every league game is, we have more of a chance of winning that than the CL. Van Persie must be 100% fit or he wouldn't be there.

I think you're being naive here Mal, it's not like Arsene doesn't have history for rushing your players back...

When does CL coverage of this start by the way on sky?

True, but if Arsenal can overcome Barca at the Nou Camp, they would surely have the belief that they can beat anyone.

It would be a massive boost, and would make Arsenal one of the favourites to win the UCL.

He barely rushes players back, he extends the time frame of their injuries so it seems they're coming back early. Most players would be ruled out for 3 weeks with a sprained ankle but Wenger will say 5 weeks. He does it all the time.

Fabregas and his hamstring injuries have been badly managed...less so with RVP though I guess.

Fabregas says he's fit, he knows his body more than anyone so if he declares himself fit what can the medical staff say? All the inflammation could be gone so only he would know how he feels.

I'm not talking about this game, i'm saying in the past Wenger has rushed him back a couple of times so why wouldn't he rush RVP?

It should be the medical staff's decision, not the players and that's exactly what I mean about the injury being poorly managed.

Of course it should be the medical staffs final decision but if he's running fine in training and feeling no pain at all then he's alright. Wayne Rooney recovered from a broken metatarsal in like 3 weeks which is super human. Neutral

Nah I've seen you slate Clichy but didn't see you say that.

Just think he's a bit off with his line keeping, and Barca are good at getting in behind.

He's said he's not 100% fit, not that he won't start.

Other Spanish media are also saying Van Persie isn't fully fit.

EDIT: Rephrase he said "Inside the Arsenal camp they think Van Persie only has 20 minutes in him and will start from the bench"
