If this Madrid team can beat Barca, then I don't see why the invincibles wouldn't be able to.

2003-2004 Arsenal isnt on 08-11 Barcelona's level, don't play around man. Invincibles Arsenal was very good but drew like 15 times (over exaggerating, but yeah)

If Hercules can beat Barca then I don't see why Newcastle wouldn't be able to.

12 times
invincbles' team greatly exxagerated
they keep predominately same squad for season after and were decimate by chelsea team powered by abramovic and mourinho machine
i think biggest difference between barcelona team and that arsenal team, barcelona destroyed europe not just la liga. arsenal lost to chelsea in champion league i think and then got knock out by bayern in season after

Arsenal lost 6 games that season across all competitions, only one less than Man Utd this season, they weren't that special, they just happened to lose all of their matches in other competitions. Their 2002 side was better for my money.

I think this Barca squad is better, but it would be one hell of a match.

Would be one high-scoring hell of a match. Barcelona would probably shade it, but our 1998 and 2002 teams were the shit

I don't think it's an absurd question really. Arsenal's style of play back then was sublime. I remember that there were matches where they never even crossed the ball once throughout the whole game. It was all done on the floor, players like Pires, Ljungberg and Henry would run with the ball, whilst keeping it directly on the white touchline on the wings and keeping knocking it ahead, keeping it on a perfect straight line. Used to really admire it.

Messi would be a different sort of threat to what that Arsenal team were used to - but they were deadly on the break, and Barcelona don't deal very well with good counter-attacks because of the way they play.
I reckon Barca would edge it, but it'd be great to see how all those Arsenal players in their prime matched up to Barcelona.

They don't do well against counter attacks? The second they lose the ball they are on the opposition, win it back and do somthing that looks entirely impossible to play the ball to a player that isn't mark and then attack the opposition.

Invincibles Arsenal couldn't even win a CL. Alot of these current Barca players have now won 3

Well, yeah, if you can get it past the first few players that press, maybe with one ball up to a more attacking midfielder, there's then a lot of space to exploit.Laurencio wrote:MickStupp wrote:Messi would be a different sort of threat to what that Arsenal team were used to - but they were deadly on the break, and Barcelona don't deal very well with good counter-attacks because of the way they play.

And by "don't deal very well" I mean in comparison to the other things the team does. It's probably one of their biggest weaknesses but even then it's not that much of a flaw.
