comparing him to a championship player? Taarabt is great for a championship player, thats why he gets praise. Coentrao is different class, and is compared to top level quality.

Coentrao hasn't really played at top level quality, 1 good world cup doesn't make you great, and Youtube videos can make Kalou look like Pele.

Also, it was a comparison in the same circumstance.

Coentrao is the full package, everything you could want from a LB. as of now he might not be the best, but he will be soon. as of now Konchesky is still the best.

Emm, do you watch him every week and know his game inside out?

No, you seen him play 4 games at the WC and seen youtube clips of him, which conveniently only show the best things he does..

confused do I watch Messi week-in week-out? that might be a bit too far. Do I watch Neymar week-in week-out? I'm going by universal opinion here.

Perfectly reasonable thinking, maybe Robinho might score 8 goals per game and surpass Pele......

You're not comparing Messi or Neymar to another player though, so you don't need to watch them to form an opinion for any reason.

right....I don't need to stalk a player to know whether he's good or not. I'm just believing the hype, because everyone else is and I've seen nothing from him to suggest otherwise.

I know you didn't, but rumored transfer costs aren't a good barometer for quality, especially in todays market.

Now there's a man who surpassed Pele. Cool

But I don't see what I said was wrong or so laughable. I gave perfectly good reasoning. I seriously seriously doubt Pele could play in the modern era and be as great as he was. They were different times and while he was amazing back then, Look back at other greats of the game, Puskas and Zarra, who like Pele, accrued an IMMENSE amount of goals. I can't help but think that those times, football was a much easier game. I doubt that those 3 would achieve many more goals than let's say 30 a season, IF that, if they were here today.

If Robinho was so good you wouldn't need to say, 'defenders are better nowadays so Robinho can't do what Pele done' or some bullshit.
