Sri Lankan bats are coming alive. They may wind up with a decent toal after all

Re: The Cricket Thread
pity that baseball is full of roids...
seems like we have an even game on our hands, India with maybe a slight advantage, although huge pressure

Re: The Cricket Thread
Sri Lanka end on 274-6. What great batting from Jayawardena! Our bowlers were getting absolutely smashed, especially at the end. This going to be very tough to beat, well played, Sri Lanka.

A century in the final must be a thrill.
Sri Lanka wicket on the second ball in the first over for India could have been disastrous, but they have since recovered nicely.

Not a good start, but at least it wasn't Tendulkar.

Re: The Cricket Thread
India has plenty of bats left. Still a doable chase. But I really hate to see Tendulkar go out in a World Cup final like that. He was off to a huge start too. Sucks

Hope that wasn't Tendulkar's last World Cup moment.

It doesn't look like the Indian supporters think they have a chance. Long ways to go though.

Their golden boy just went down. All they need is a 4 or 6 and they'll be back out of their seats.

Two runs since the wicket haven't helped though.

Re: The Cricket Thread
There's a lot of pressure now. They already had the pressure of a respectable chase. And now their two most dangerous bats are gone. They're no doubt feeling a lot of pressure right now.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Yeah man haha. What a crazy world.
This is just my second time watching cricket though. The first time was the semifinal with India and Pakistan the other day. But I think I finally have an understanding of all the rules and scoring that goes along with it. Terminology is still beyond me though.
What are the powerplays though? Are there three for an ODI? I get you can only have three fielders in the circle then, but how long do they last, and why do they have them?

Re: The Cricket Thread
Why is that? And having looked it up, the first ten overs are a mandatory powerplay? And then the fielding captain chooses a set of 5 overs that is another pp, and then the batting captain chooses one as well?
It's an interesting concept, but I obviously haven't seen enough to know whether or not it has a huge affect on the runs scored.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Yea, that's how it works.
It's supposed to make the games more interesting by giving the batting team a better chance to make runs but honestly, I don't think it makes the game any better. I think it's lame.

No, their batsman are carving us apart. Malinga back in, or we have no chance.
