How is that relevant? His own fault for mistiming a tackle. One of many mistimed tackles I should add.

Of course it's relevant, he's playing defensive midfield and his main role all game was to break up play against Barcelona, a team that moves a lot. How many time's have you seen a fullbacks performance dip in a game when he's up against a quick winger and is booked.

Wasn't that held back from the 4th minute considering he went on to make many more fouls..

They were all pretty soft though and not really bookable offences.

I wasn't looking for a discussion on Song tbh, just saying judging a player on one game(Alves didn't even play badly) is for retards.

Nothing to do with Alves. He doesn't have the role of a typical right back and Barca are set up to allow him not to be back for every opponent attack.

alves had great game actaully

his 1v1 defending is brilliance, not many better then him in this aspect

and his recovery is also brilliant

just because there was massive gap in his position when arsenal scored, is not his fault as he wsa on other side of the field almost creating a goal in counterattack, just arsenal capitalized quicker and if anything, perhaps keita was at fault for not tracking arshavin movement as it is his nominal responsibility to cover for alves when he attacks. the player he marked in the middle was offside so there was no reason why he should drift into middle like that

is easy to looking in hindsight though, but again, alves in that system, did everything correct, if you compare his performance to clichy then you will see the difference between the two, alves responsible for getting forward, providing width and utilizing his space, unlike normal arsenal games when clichy can attack all he wants, clichy attacking responsibility was very minimal in this game because he needed to defend a lot against a much better team than what he is used to so he had no excuse to ball watch and being caught out so often
