Re: Chat Thread
7 years now, although the first 5 I only studied it for half the year, a stupid system that slowed everyone's progress. Are you thinking of studying it?

How many hours a week?
Nah, French. I've been studying it since year 6 but I've attempted reading some more complex French books and struggled.
Would you be OK reading something like The Castle?

3 of the back 4 are a joke. Silva? He's been one the worst players for large parts of 2014. How often does Ramos even play RB anymore?

I think I want to learn French next year, there are just too many benefits to ignore-beautiful language, country, and people.Keyser Söze wrote:How many hours a week?

I would be able to read something at that level, but I would really have to take my time. I've only read a few German novels (Barbara Honigmann was the author from memory) but I have read smaller pieces by Thomas Mann and others that I suspect are similar in difficulty.

I was going to say that since you're so proficient in German that French so be a breeze but I've read online that apparently French is harder to learn for English speakers. Might be my ignorance speaking (since I've never even attempted to learn German or rarely encountered it outside football) but German seems like such a heavy language to learn, it has a lot of strange long words whereas French is pretty light and soft.
I'd like to learn Italian or German next or something totally different like Hebrew, Russian or Mandarin.

Re: Chat Thread
I probably couldn't either I don't really count Arabic or English as something I learned (in the learn a language sense) since I grew up with them. If I'd known only one or the other and then tried to learn one of them now I'd find it extremely difficult.Glen Miller wrote:Exceptional, I could never move to another alphabet.

I studied Russian for a year, thought the alphabet was easy. The grammar wasn't too difficult either.

I actually know a little Brazilian Portuguese, and understand a little Tagalog, but nowhere near fluent with either. I've always wanted to learn something like Japanese, Korean or Chinese though, but those languages seem so complex and different to what I know that I wouldn't know where to start.

Re: Chat Thread
need to hustle so hard this semester, my GPA is 3.67 (just barely, my average percent grade is 81%) and I learned that to get the serious summer internships (PwC, KPMG, Deloitte, Accenture, RBC, etc) you need at least a 4.0 GPA (at least 85%).
so unless I can find a late-entry role in May, my summer is basically ruined already ffs

What is the maximum you can get in Canada? A 3.67 in the US isn't terrible.

The last couple of days I've been having trouble sleeping. I found out Jozy Altidore signed a 30 million dollar contract to play in the MLS.
