Caught a bit of Valencia's game today. They look like a really good side. The consensus during the window was to focus on the Lim x Jorge Mendes connection filling the squad with Benfica players, and the transfer that got the most flak was Andre Gomes who they paid something upwards of 20 million Euros for when he was playing for Benfica B. Damn is he good. It's early in the season but he looks worth every penny.Rodrigo isn't too shabby as well.

Only watched the game when they beat Dortmund. The pressing that Schmidt has them doing is insane, but they're missing too many chances. Killed them against Monaco in the Champions League and against Wolfsburg the very next game (lost 4x1). Funnily, Dortmund had/has the same problem, even when they had Lewandowski-FussballGott. Leverkusen only have Kiessling as a  top striker (IMO). (Drmic is still developing.)

Haven't seen them enough, or I'm that tactically in-tune enough to say how close he is to Klopp coaching wise outside the pressing, though.

Bayern v SC Paderborn 07 should be a good match, I think Paderborn might be the real deal and they are currently on top of the table.

That video is quite interesting. But I'd also like to see videos of the pressing breaking down. I know it's a bit simple -- but they didn't win every game they played last year, which meant that their press had to be broken down at some point. In the instances when the press was broken, what was the root cause for it? Poor timing on the press, or the ability for the other teams to unlock it. Think it would be interesting to see how teams could break down that press.

But when they were on, that looked like quite the machine.

Take this with a grain of salt but I'm over in Germany here and watching the Bayer game on TV. Obviously the pressing is pretty intense, but the consistency of the speed in which they win the ball back is pretty impressive. The only problem is that once they have the ball the players are quite compact making them play quick one touch passes to create son space again, which of course leads to turn overs of their own.

Plus there's the fact Saphic just got sent of for 2 yellows so maybe the pressing is a bit too aggressive. As I say though this is only based on one half of one game.
