Should Stoke City Football Club be Exterminated?

I am speaking as a footballing neutral when I say that a club that idolises leg breaking challenges, outrageously boring football, and the bullying of refereeing officials and opposition players should not be allowed in the Premier League. We talk about creating a national team with athleticism, dynamism, and skill, yet we call Tony Pulis a "genius" for creating the greatest disgrace to world football I have ever seen.

Why not? At the very least, they should be suspended. Whenever my team goes to the Britannia, I fear for my players' legs. Surrounded by 12 skinhead thugs (Skrtel included), plus 25,000+ saliva-drenched cretins screaming approval whenever one of their players gets "stuck in," aka "in a fight."JamieB wrote:No.

Of course you have to prepare for a physical game when playing Stoke
Like I said you just have to adapt to compensate for their physicality, their playing style is obviously legitimate or they would be getting fines every week.

This is a league where three consecutive assaults gets you a three match ban, and one in which the officials turn a blind eye if you stamp on a foreigner. How is Suarez supposed to prepare for elbows, stamps, and punches? Should he carry a concealed weapon?Dagbon wrote:Of course you have to prepare for a physical game when playing Stoke

A good volley, yes...but remind me how that ball got into the box, and whether that would happen against the Spanish?Bushido wrote:What a goal that was.

Wishing death upon thousands and thousands of insects is far worse than wishing death upon one forumite.

That's a ridiculous comment and you know it. It's not the players who should prepare its the managers. For example, if Carroll was still at Liverpool he would have most likely been a better selection and done much better than Suarez against the rough Stoke CB's.Glen Damon wrote:This is a league where three consecutive assaults gets you a three match ban, and one in which the officials turn a blind eye if you stamp on a foreigner. What's more awkward than anything is that Rodgers said Stoke don't get the credit they deserve, implying he respects them. He clearly doesn't respect them enough to modify his tactics to accommodate his opponents or worse, he might just not have a plan B.

Ridiculous, Suarez was brilliant today and made a fool out of Shawcross within 20 seconds.Dagbon wrote:That's a ridiculous comment and you know it. Rodgers was most likely scared of the skinhead mafia Pulis seems to operate. I would much prefer it if he had shown backbone like Arsene Wenger and publicly exposed Stoke for what it is.Dagbon wrote:What's more awkward than anything is that Rodgers said Stoke don't get the credit they deserve, implying he respects them. Suarez didn't make a fool of anyone today, he won a penalty but besides that didn't have a real chance to score. Suso and Downing were the real heroes today.

The words people commonly used to describe the Arsenal of 2008:
Genius, masterful, intelligent, puppet masters.
Words used to describe Stoke by the commentators today:
Good grafters, pitbulls with toys in their mouths, brave.
Which one do we want representing English football?

I think it is really selfish to play in the way that Stoke do. I mean, of course you don't have to play in a way that serves the greater good of the country in which you play or the state of football in general. But to choose to pursue such a style, knowing that it could never breed top quality players or be successful at the very highest level, is just an insult to every English football fan. It's also embarrassingly unambitious, since all they're really vying for is mid-table stability.

That second goal looked like footballing technique to me.

I think you mean the third one, the second one was a standard corner.dena wrote:Glen Damon wrote:Stoke do not play football.

It was a good finish to a brutally painful-to-watch move.

Unless you are trying to effect the referee's decisions you should be able to play football however you want.
