What makes you say that he's like that?

He's coming back from a big injury so was always going to be rusty, played not that many games which he wasn't great in to be expected, and then he had a broken nose.

What makes you think he's lazy or can't be asked playing?

Because we're not big enough for him and personally I think the Premier League is a little too fast and tough for his style of play. The difference between him and Alonso was the fact that Alonso covered a lot more ground and was easily the stronger than the two.

You are comparing a talent to the finished article. He isn't really going to be like Alonso, one of the finest midfielders you've had, until he's matured. The fact that Rodgers seems clueless about how to play him most certainly isn't doing him any favours either. As for the Premiership being too fast, he did very well in the Bundesliga for a team that played lightning quick football at times, clearly he's no slouch.

I watched a lot of Dortmund when he won the title with them. They were by far the best team in the country and dominated the play wherever they went, playing in that sort of team is dead easy despite how fast the league is. What I'm trying to say is it's different for him when he's playing for Liverpool(It may be because we're shitty, but it's different). Just watch him the next time he plays; he doesn't want to be here and he doesn't fit our style.

Oh and like I said before; He wouldn't work in Fergies system either, I just can't see it happening for him here regardless of his talent.

Don't believe the PL being too fast stuff, it's rubbish imo.

He's had barely any games in his preferred position and he's rusty and needs games to pick up, don't see how you can judge him yet especially when you've had players like Lucas who took a while to adjust too.

They were, and a lot of their control was down to the impeccable play by Sahin in the middle. Obviously it's different, it's a different team, a completely different manager and a completely different situation to be in. I think Sahin at his best could easily play in your "system", he is comfortable on the ball, and is an excellent passer of the ball, there's absolutely no reason why he wouldn't be able to be an important player. I can't pretend to know what he's thinking or feeling, but his talent is unquestionable. Whether or not the motivation is there, I do not know. But I'd be very surprised if Sir Alex of all people wouldn't be able to motivate him.

I respectfully disagree. From what I saw in Dortmund he could be a key player for just about any team given the chance.

I agree with Jord, drop Sahin and play Shelvey so he can swagger around and get "stuck in."

We shouldn't be so quick to discard a player who is clearly very talented without giving him a prope chance to prove himself in his favoured position.

I don't think Rodgers did his homework on Sahin before he signed him. That or he thought he could change Sahin's position. Think he was looking for an attacking mid type player considering we missed out on Sigurdsson.

Personally I think Sahin could do better than Allen in that holding playmaker type role. If he's not going to be used in that position then we might as well get rid. No point in wasting money on a player that isn't going to show any of his potential here.

Because he plays deeper he is a defensive midfielder? You never heard of the DLP in the double 6 formation you monkey? The good teams in the BuLi use it:

    Bayern - Kroos/Schweini
    Dortmund - Ilky
    Schalke - Holtby

Even in 10/11 Sahin would be playing alongside S. Bender and Silva who would be the defensive midfielder, and Sahin would be the DLP who controlled the tempo of the match.

Why not just call Pirlo a defensive midfielder with that stupid logic...

Seems Rodgers must be getting impatient. He wanted to off Carroll(Either him or John Henry) because he didn't fit with his style of play, yet Sturridge is far from the hard working mould that he likes up front.

Odd that considering we are trying to adopt a pressing game we don't seem to play Sahin who was a vital part of the team who have mastered the art of pressing.
