Rodgers says he only wants "one or two" players in January.

Sturridge & Ince it is, then.

Rafa has confirmed the Sturridge deal.

"The information I had was that he was there, passing the medical."

    Unchanged side:

The Reds team in full: Reina, Johnson, Enrique, Skrtel, Agger, Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey, Suso, Downing, Suarez. Subs: Jones, Carragher, Coates, Henderson, Allen, Cole, Sterling.

Is it stupid that I want Rodgers gone? No improvements made, the same stupid decisions, we're just not going anywhere.

"Rodgers is here for the long term."

He has us playing the right way, he has gotten Suarez playing brilliantly, he just needs a few players here and there. The fact that he has had to turn to Downing as a player in form says it all.

I don't blame you for wanting him gone. You've been fed bullshit by him with all that philosophy shite. He's a good, to average, Championship manager.

He finished mid table with an average Watford side. For large parts of the season they were in the relegation zone though. This was nothing special however. Watford nearly went into administration and lost key players such as Smith and Graham, an Mackay and Dyche both had comfortable midtable finishes in harder circumstances.

At Reading, Rodgers took a side that should have been challenging for promotion, to the relegation zone and was sacked 6 months into the job. McDermott shown his superior managerial abilities by hauling them up the table from January onwards and just finishing a few points off the play offs. The following season he then won the title.

Rodgers then took over Swansea, a team that were ready to go up. Martinez got the ball rolling there, and Sousa improved the defensive side of things and finished 7th. Although they were probably a little too defensive under Sousa. Rodgers came in, tweaked a few obvious things, and got them promoted through the Play Offs as expected.

In the PL he did well with them. Luckily for Swansea he wasn't sticking around, so try haven't suffered 2nd season syndrome. Laudrup is a much better manager and Swansea are now better off.

What he did with Swansea in the PL is nothing special. Even Paul Jewell managed to finish 10th with Wigan in his first PL season with them, and Jewell is a fucking shite manager!

I genuinely feel for fans of the Liverpool Football Club. You are a top, top club and deserve much better. But unfortunately you've been conned by one of the biggest conmen in football. Brendan Rodgers would be a fantastic salesman, he certainly has the gift of the gab.

Why is it absurd? Wigan under Paul Jewell, Hull under Phil Brown, Stoke under Pulis, Fulham a while back all survived their first season relatively comfortably. Blackpool and Burnley had good starts but dropped off towards the end.

The Premier League isn't that hard to go into, teams just attack and use the shock factor + a couple of freakishly lucky results to survive the season. Sticking around like Stoke and Wigan have is the hard part.

Yes, but none of them managed to stay up while playing in the same way Rodgers' Swansea side did. How many promoted teams have come into the Premier League and managed to finish comfortably in mid-table while playing possession based football? You may argue that the way Swansea played wasn't particularly attractive but it is undoubtedly difficult to achieve and Rodgers' side did it seamlessly.

Reading in 2006/07 were great to watch and they finished 8th in their first season. In 1994/95, Forest finished 3rd in their first season back in the Premier League. Rodgers' achievement of an 11th placed finish in his first season isn't anything special. He's doing no better than Roy or Dalglish were.

El Jefe wrote:This is completely irrelevant but Forest, why did your manager get sacked?

Similar to you we were fed with some philosophy bullshit. We've been an average Championship side the majority of the season apart from the odd game or two where we have actually seen this great passing football. We have one of the best squads in the league and should be doing much better. It's a harsh sacking, but if we get in a manager like Di Matteo who we've been linked with, then it'll turn out to be the right thing to do in the long run.

SOD is a nice guy though. Hope he gets another good Championship side to manage

To do as well as Roy did on such a low budget would have been tremendous. I mean, this is a man who had a deal lined up for Mario Gomez, only for the club to refuse to back him financially. Dalglish only did well in 2011/2012 when Lucas was tearing it up, Rodgers has lacked a midfielder that dominates the game. Allen plays well, but doesn't dominate it, Gerrard dominates it in a negative way, Sahin isn't being played for some reason, and the current Lucas Leiva is slower and less patient.

He broke his nose but he's been back in training for about a week I think, see no reason why he couldn't play against QPR.

Not sure about Assaidi, can only assume that Rodgers isn't a big fan, maybe he doesn't think he's enough of a goal threat or tactically good enough. He's off to the ACON soon anyway.

Anyway, he said we want Nuri Sahin on a permanent deal, I wouldn't be against it but we need to give the lad some fucking games in his actual position.

Rodgers doesn't have talk some shit sometimes:

"That is what is going to take a bit of time. I always say it's like a good meal - I'm not a great cook but a good meal takes a wee bit of time but also to offer a good meal you need good ingredients.

"That is something we will do over time and hopefully put a nice meal on the table for supporters."

Rodgers isn't really the best public speaker, it's a bit like Mourinho's "how to make an omelet" speech though. Reminds me, "Being Liverpool" was on TV last night, I have to say I especially liked his motivational speech:

"I analyzed the squad before this season and found out that three people will let us down this season and ruin the team"

I cannot believe that Rodgers kept Skrtel. He has cost us so many points this year with his inability to play a sideways or backwards pass along the ground, as well as the fact that his center of gravity is located somewhere in his thick skull.
