This is the man who unsettled a world class player in Xabi Alonso by going after Gareth Barry, I wonder who he will alienate at Chelsea? Perhaps he will force Mata out by going after Aaron Lennon. think

    Recent Materazzi interview:

"Mourinho was number one. His secret was to make the players feel involved in the project. In Madrid [during the 2010 Champions League final], he told me that he was leaving. I said to him: 'Damn you for leaving me with Benítez.'

I did not get on well with Benitez. He made me remove pictures of the most important moments of my career with Mourinho and [Marcello] Lippi from my locker. He thought he knew everything, but he was afraid of his own shadow."

Experts have predicted that by 2025 you will be no more than 6 feet away from an ex-Chelsea manager.

Why would anyone better than Benitez want that job? It's a thankless job. There are loads of better gigs out there for talented managers.

Fucking hell, it's happened. Going to be so weird seeing him at Chelsea.

Watch the Chelsea bum boys do a 180 turn and wank themselves silly over Benitez when he starts getting them to perform brilliantly and Torres starts banging them in for fun.

Benitez's contract with Chelsea is an 18 month deal. Not sure why he's been described as "interim" manager.

Interim implies that he'll only be there until they get someone permanent in, which should be at the end of the season..

It's probably just so he gets a nice severance package

Chelsea fans, what are your thoughts on the Benitez appointment? Not seen any proper discussion about it.
