I always go from the most defensive players at the the top, to most attacking players at the bottom.

    Something like:

    GK
    CB
    RB
    CM
    CAM
    RW
    ST

    As an example.

If I have two CM's on my bench, I'll look at their secondary positions, so if one plays CM/CDM and the other is CM/CAM, then the CM/CDM will be above on the list.

    RM
    CDM

    FIFA 13 - Page 8 Empty Re: FIFA 13

Post by JK Sun Oct 28, 2012 3:20 am

Finished my first season with Southampton and I'm now doing what I like best of Career Mode, finding promising and/or suitable players for my team doing proper research. I finished first (yes, first) in the EPL, won both the cups too. I now switched to Legendary. The team I finished with:

    Butland (72)
    Clyne (78) - Kirchhof (78) - Yoshida (74) - Shaw (66)
    Ward-Prowse (72) - Zuculini (74)
    Redmond (73) - Ramirez (83) - Lallana (81)
    Mayuka (78)
    Notable substitutes:
    Scheiderlin (76)
    Cork (76)
    Rodriguez (77)
    De Ridder (70)
    Fox (70)

Mayuka ended as topscorer, 39 goals in all competitions, followed by Ramirez with 38. Redmond was my top assister, 18 assists for him, followed by 15 from Lallana. Mayuka's speed (acc & sprint 94), balance (87) and finishing (84) make him a good goal threat. His only missings are technical skills and some height to score, but makes up for it with all his other qualities. Ramirez is just too awesome, way too awesome. Ball control 93, dribbling 90, acceleration 83, sprinting 87, impossible to knock off the ball, finishing 84, shot power 84, distant shots 87. How's that for a Southampton player? Clyne is pretty damn good too. Obviously his best traits are his acceleration and speed. Good stamina too, so he can keep supporting the attack and get back in time to help defending. Nevertheless was Kirchhof my best defender all season long. Made excellent progress, from 73 to 78 (same as Clyne btw) and has turned to a real leader, if that's even possible in FIFA. Big, strong, good heading skills and good tackling. Lovely.

So now I'm in my second season. And this is where the fun kicks in when I'm able to sign promising and/or suitable players for my team. Especially because I've now qualified for the Champions' League, which means more matches and less resting time. So far I've signed three players. Izagguire, a decent, cheap and experienced left back from Celtic with an overall of 74. Forrest, a speedy tricky player with decent stamina and plenty of potential from Barcelona (starts at Celtic) for a pretty cheap price because he was way down the pecking order. He can compete for the two wide positions with Lallana, Redmond and De Ridder. He has an overall of 78, btw. I've also signed Nathan Ake from Chelsea. Not your traditional central defender. He isn't tall, 180 cm, he's pretty rapid with an acceleration of 84 and his attacking workrate is high, so you can suddenly find him up on the pitch next to your striker. He's kind of another project (or prospect, put it the way you want it) and so far he's done fairly well. Overall of 68, so he'll need some time to come good.

The only thing I now need is another striker. Mayuka's good and all that, but he hasn't got the greatest stamina, so he'll have to miss some matches to get back to full fitness. I figured I needed something different from Mayuka. This way I'd also be able to properly change matches with one or more substitutions. Mayuika's not the best dribbler and he's not very tall either. I don't work with crosses, but I also already have a great dribbler in my team with Ramirez. In the end I figured out I still wanted a dribbler, so I don't lose too much quality if I have to substitute or can't play both of Mayuka and Ramirez. Does this make any sense? Well, anyway, so far my targets are Duricic from Heerenveen (21 years old, 78 overall, pretty rapid and excellent dribbling skills, lacks proper finishing, but has good vision and passing, so in this case I'll be able to bring him in at CAM and push Ramirez into the striking role if necesarry), Suárez from Anderlecht (25 years old, 78 overall, pretty lethal striker with good technical skills), Zárate (26 years old, 78 overall, quick and tricky striker, but "only" 75 finishing) and Griezmann, who just popped in my head. I know he has 78 overall aswell (coincidence, much?), 21 years old and he's a damn good dribbler and he's a lefty. I like lefties. Don't think he's that good of a finisher, though.

I think my preference goes to Duricic. He has something special about him and I think it's fun to have some variety in your team. Don't think I'll like Suárez and Zárate seems a bit unrealistic, although I finished first in the EPL. I've used Griezmann before in FIFA12 and I just loved using him, so it's kind of a tie between Duricic and Griezmann for now.

Perhaps someone has another idea of striker for me? Preferably a striker with good ball control, dribbling and finishing.

As for strikers, have you looked into Muriel from Udinese? He fits your criteria and has great potential.

For the player order thing, I often change the sub bench because I want to give other players a chance, but in general I order them by how much I use them. So my 3rd keeper is bottom, then my youth players etc

Good shout! He looks like the real deal. I will have a look at him when I'm playing again. Should he be down in the pecking order (I know Cavani's still there, but Vargas, who turns is pretty damn good aswell, has left. Not sure about Pandev) then I might be able to try a cheeky bid for him. My limit is around 10m euros, though. I was actually trying to get Vargas, but he's recently joined Fulham, unfortunately. Thanks!

Thanks mate. I like putting in some work and time in my CMs and updates. This way I keep on going with my team, instead of quitting way too early.

Muriel's a good suggestion. I think he'll be too expensive, though. Starts off pretty good already. Should've said I have a limited budget of about 10m euros now I've brought those other three players in.

Jorlung wrote:dafuq. You came first in the EPL? Laughing

Haha, it was pretty easily actually! I was able to sim the last few matches, because I was like 6 points off. Played pretty much every match with Shaw too, he starts off with an overall of 58. Think I received 24m euros from the board for winning the EPL. Started off with 26m in the beginning of season 2. I was able to get another 3.2m from the board, but I have to qualify for the Champions' League, which I should be able to, even on Legendary.

Took a look at my Santos CM after a long break. Midway through the 2nd ssn now. Couple of big departures and some arrivals so the team looks like this.

    Fabio
    B. Peres--Mier--Douglas--Avine
    Zuculini--Arouca
    Gabriel--Bernardo--F. Anderson
    Wallyson

Subs: Aranha; Fucile, Braz, Adriano, P. Castro, Aloisio

Rafael moved to Napoli, and both Henrique and Pato Rodriguez handed in transfer requests. Brought in Fabio, Mier, Wallyson, and Zuculini. Not sure whether to buy more players or use the ones already in my squad.
Might start another one to run along with this. Thinking of Swansea or Werder Bremen.

Coming towards the end of my first season with Bayer Leverkusen this is my team:

    4-3-3 (False 9)

    Leno (81)

    Carvajal (73) - Wollscheid (79) - Alderweireld (79) - Dídac (78)

    Moutinho (84) - Bender (83) - R. Eremenko (79)

    Sam (81) - Kerzhakov (82) - Schürrle (81)

    Subs:

    Rensing (77)
    Simao (80)
    Schwaab (76)
    Kadlec (77)
    Junior Fernandes (76)
    Volland (71)
    Castro (80)

I sold Renato Augusto in January. He was "home sick" so he went to Barca for 18 million. I am currently 5th in the league. W14 D4 L7. Fore: 51 Against: 36

Kerzhakov is top goal scorer so far in March with 17 goals and Schürrle is top assister with 13 in the Bundesliga.

    Playing on world class.

Just try different things, like going into the calendar and simming past that day. (best option?)

Go into the xbox system settings bit and actually copy the save again.

Don't give up, I'd try the first thing though.

Neymar never moves in career mode for some reason. Same with Hazard when he was at Lille. Suppose its just because they are too expensive because of their potential.

I had it freeze at a certain date before aswell, but the calander worked for me. Perhaps if you go past the match you have to play, so you actually sim the match, you can continue in your career?

I bought Duricic for my Southampton save btw. Didn't cost me too much, while the other players that were suggested did. I now have a pretty strong first team and bench, so I'm able to rotate around. Oh yeah, sold Rodriguez after an offer of 6m euros came in. Not sure if I said that before. Didn't really make an impact coming off the bench, so I was planning to replace him sooner or later anyway.

Sold him, way too good of an offer to turn down. Bought Ahmed Musa from CSKA for £6.5m, already grown +2 in the first 2 games. He's no where close to Wells in strength but he has some great stats: Accelaration 98, Agility 97, Balance 95, Jumping 95, Reactions 87 and a sprint speed of 95. He's played really well, when I'm 1 up against the bigger teams I set up a flat 451 formation for the last 15 minutes or so to soak up the pressure, he plays amazing as the lone striker and scored a brace against AC Milan. not worthy But his strength is a pain, got clattered and is out for 2 months now.
