You really don't have a big squad.. the depth is nonexistent. I never noticed that until recently.
Now that Kenny is gone though.. I wish Liverpool the best.

Not for me. I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty.
having said that, I think we'll play better and score more goals this season.
What pisses a lot of people off is the constant draws to smaller clubs, especially at Anfield. Anfield needs to be turned into a hard place to play again.
Hopefully Rodgers wears a suit on the sidelines.

Of course. Good performances should lead to a decent finish, right?

Redknapp pretty much let him do what he want which meant he would frequently be out of position and affect the teams balance

It was the same problem at Real Madrid though, Van der Vaart has to play behind the striker he is shit everywhere else and when he does play in that position he doesn't help the midfield.

Though it's not easy. But I feel quite hopeful that we can break free of the shackles of mediocrity and challenge for the top 5.
I don't think you could do it this season, but depending on how Rodgers does, it could possibly be achieved next season.
Mustangt125 wrote:The Zlatan wrote:They could, but at the same time it depends who they sign. None of their best players seem to have been linked with moves away and I think those players will only get stronger, it'll certainly be tight between you two for 6th, I think.
Depends for Spurs, too. Adebayor hopefully wont be back, Modric looks off, and VDV might be leaving. That's a lot of their offense.
I can't see Spurs dropping that far down, Modric might leave, I don't know about van der Vaart, but they could replace him convincingly. They look like they are going to sign a new GK and they have strengthened their defence as well, if they don't keep Adebayor either, which I think they will, they could still go out and sign a good striker.

When RvP leaves you have a good chance of doing better than us.
Knowing our luck Podolski will be wasted out on the left and Giroud will take a while to get going.

Won't happen Your midfield is miles ahead of ours. Not to mention Podolski would probably score more goals than Suarez and Carroll combined.Chris wrote:When RvP leaves you have a good chance of doing better than us.

Impossible to predict without knowing who will be playing where to be honest, so much can happen, I want to reserve judgement until I have a better idea of the final squads.

Podolski should be played in the hole for us but he will be wasted on the left I feel. I'm sure you watched him for Germany, he was nothing special playing wide.Jord wrote:Won't happen Your midfield is miles ahead of ours. I like Arsenal, and I think they'll do well. Giroud and Podolski will be quite good, although I feel that Giroud does have more flop potential, I think he'll score goals, but the French league isn't as good as England so he could struggle to play as well as he can straight away. I'm glad we play them at home early on, they might not be in full flow

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Giroud has almost no flop potential, he's similar to Mario Gomez in playing style (His words not mine) and the amount of chances we create for our strikers he will put away plenty.

I also meant out of Podolski and Giroud, if one of the was to not do as well as the other, it would be Giroud, mainly cos Podolski is more experienced (he did fail at Bayern though )

Having never seen Giroud play I thought he was a Chamakh, if he is actually I Gomez type player than no doubt it can only be a good thing.

He doesn't have flop potential anymore than other players that are coming to this league.Jord wrote:Giroud has flop potential What Cam said is sensible, France is not England
I know what you're saying I just think Giroud will get at least 20 goals for us this season whereas Podolski is probably going to be playing out wide, I think he will do well too but he's less likely to have an impact.Cam wrote:I also meant out of Podolski and Giroud, if one of the was to not do as well as the other, it would be Giroud, mainly cos Podolski is more experienced (he did fail at Bayern though )

Can't have one without the other, over the course of a season.

We'll have to see how well Rodgers' methods are put in place to start the season. I think it could surprise some people, but we do have probably the toughest start to the year in the league.

Re: Liverpool FC Official Thread
Roma striker Fabio Borini is 'seriously considering' the opportunity to join Liverpool this summer, according to his agent.
The Serie A club's sporting director Walter Sabatini confirmed earlier
on Tuesday that the Anfield outfit had expressed an interest in signing
the 21-year-old.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers knows Borini well, having worked with him
during their time together at Chelsea and again during a loan spell with
Swansea.
Borini netted nine goals in 24 appearances in the league for Roma last
season and earned a place in Italy's Euro 2012 squad, although he did
not feature during their run to the final.
Alerted
Agent Marco De Marchi plans to hold further discussions with his client
in the coming days as they evaluate the possibility of a switch to the
Premier League.
De Marchi told Radio Radio: "Roma has informed us of Liverpool's interest in the boy. Now it's up to Fabio to have his say."
And he added on IlSussidiario.net: "We were alerted by Roma of the
existence of this deal. I cannot honestly tell you the details but, as
Sabatini has already said, we're now seriously considering it.
"Would the player want to go to Liverpool? Honestly, I don't want to
commit myself as there will be more news in the coming days. Wait for
that."
---------------------
Would look bad if another one of his former players turned us down,
especially considering Roma look willing to sell for some reason. Who
do they have as a reliable striker these days?
Having said that,
Glyfi didn't sound too bad now that Rodgers looks like a badass for
saying he knows what he's worth and wasn't going to pay him more.

Don't they have Osvaldo and Bojan? You'd have to ask Shnix or Kuled
I think we'll get him if Roma accept our bid, doesn't seem to be much interest in him from other teams

If Spurs lose VDV along with Modric and fail to strengthen in that department (if it's only Moutinho they get) I feel you guys could pip them providing you sign Borini. Not a lot being said about Joe Cole, I feel he'll be a great addition to your side this coming season.

Hopefully Moutinho doesn't go there, he's too good/cool to go to them.
And yeah I was waiting to see if the Roma guy was on to ask him what he thinks about Borini. I had thought they weren't all that pleased with Borini and Bojan as well as Lamela weren't able to step up.
Getting him for 10 mill euros would be well worth the risk and it would be pleasant to see us get a good deal rather than get shafted.
