To piss off the Liverpool fans... I'm sure they have a sense of humour too.

Best formation is the 4-2-2-1-1, in my opinion. And it's the formation we should look to use. Can even turn into a 4-2-2-2. The idea of a formation, should always be to create a system that gets the best out of your best players. The Gerrard/Torres was genius from Rafa. Noone else seen it. Only him.

4-2-2-1-1 works perfect for us too. When Gerrard's fit, he plays in the 'free role', that way we could have a settled CM partnership and wouldn't have to disrupt it everytime Gerrard came back into the side. When Gerrard doesn't play, you can go 2 up front, or play someone else in the 'free role'.

Dean does the 4-2-2-1-1 have wingers?

Yes, Chris. 4 defenders, 2 holding midfielders, 2 wingers, 1 free role, 1 striker.

I agree, I really like the look of him, and Dempsey, but I, like many other Liverpool fans, am not keen on the idea of buying players from mid-table clubs like last summer.

Dempsey seems like a player who wouldn't flop. Maybe it's hindsight but out of Downing and Dempsey, Dempsey seems more of a consistant performer. I think Downing lacks a personality, if you get what I mean, so he is the kind of guy who could easily just drop off and play like shit, Dempsey would be the kind of guy to kick himself up the arse and start to play well

There's plenty of players at lower clubs, who have world class ability or have that mentality to fit in at a top club, it's just finding them, we obviously never last Summer. Dembele looks quite a player to me. He'd fit in perfectly in the hole or 'free role' if you like. He's kinda' got the Gerrard trait werewhen he gets going and is on song, he's unplayable.
