Re: The Football Manager Chat Thread!
Why is it that every non-rich club that I join is immediately in debt whether I buy staff or players or not? And then half of the squad's contracts are set to expire and their agents demand all this shit that I cannot possibly afford to pay? Basically you start with a half assed team and have to get rid of half of that team by the 2nd season.

I get emotional on FM too. Sometimes I get as emotional as I do watching real football.

I always end up swearing at the top of my lungs at the shitheads in my team.
I celebrate every goal too, do a little dance.

On last years FM, I was England and Rooney scored a 90th minute winner against France in the World Cup Semi-Final for me!
Needless to say, I did dance.
Had to be done.

For me, FB(A), that is what I used on previous successful tactics, though currently I am using a classic tactic so I don't give my players direct roles like Full Back Attack, etc.
BTW, what patch are you playing with?

Don't recall. I started my Southampton save on March 31 of this year.

Do you guys tend to share tactics on here? Because I've got a beaut.

Go ahead and share. I don't like using other people's tactics though. You have to take into account the players you have at your disposal. But I could learn something new.

Right. I frequent FM base, and I found this tactic.
http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-manager-2012-tactics-training/86187-4-2-2-2-il-devasto-untick-target-man-xd-9.html
The link is for page 9 of a tactic where, 3 posts down a user 'tomiblaougrana" posts a tactic '4-2-4 il devasto clock movement'. Its an absolute gem of a tactic. Scored me 200 goals (in the prem alone) in one season. Got me to the final of the CL hwere I played Fiorentina (who were by the time one of the best teams in the world) and beat them 6-2. Scored an average of 5.1 goals a game, and it is the sole reason I became the 10th best (3rd in England) manager of all time.
It is a classic tactic, so it might look weird at first.
Notes:
-Minimum pitch size helps, though it doesn't matter all that much.
-If you are starting preseason, put training focus to Very High and Individual focus to Teamwork. After preseason (or generally after 2-4 games) change the individual focus to attacking movement. In the first few games where the focus is teamwork, don't expect straight away 7-0's, as your team is getting used to the tactic. When you change it to attacking movement, then you can expect the big results.
- I've tested it with all kinds of teams in all kinds of leagues. Arsenal, Newcastle + Liverpool in the EPL. Juventus in the Serie A. Real Madrid in La Liga. Montpellier in Ligue 1. Even Zenit in the RPD. In every single case I have had tremendous success.
Currently playing with Zenit and beat Napoli 6-1 in the CL.
Anyway, try it out and tell me what you think!

i've got to say, in my 4 seasons playing as Roma in FM12, i never got emotional. even when i lost 0-7 to napoli, i was laughing mostly. or when my 34-win streak ended, i was just like oh well
guess that makes me more emotionally attached to schalke than roma lol

I actually downloaded that tactic a while back. Used it some, but wasn't that successful with it. Maybe I just need to give it more time. I'll try it on my Barcelona save.
It's also a FM 2011 tactic, so it's kind of confusing.

I've found some downloadable tactics that work okay, but a lot are in the classic mode.

Seriously? I had no idea. But tbh, I couldn't care less as long as the results keep coming!
Again, you have to give it at least 4 games. Also it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to put the individual training focus to attacking movement with very high intensity. Without this, the tactic won't work nearly as good.
If I could score 200 goals in 1 season with Arsenal, I can't imagine with this tactic how many goals you could bang in with Barcalona.
