It's been a great week, but we finally have it... THE TEAM OF THE DECADE. As voted by you and I, so, here it is. Also, we need to do something with this, not just sit and have it archived.

    The Results:

    Eto'o - 1

    Shevchenko - 1
    Van Nistleroy -16
    Vieri - 0

    Raul - 2
    Ronaldo - 20
    Owen - 0

    Bergkamp - 5
    Henry - 30

    --------------------------Buffon-------------------------------
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    --Cafu-----Cannavarro-----------Nesta--------------Carlos—----
    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    --Figo---------Zidane--------------Gerrard------Ronaldinho-------
    -------------------Henry---------------Ronaldo------------------

    SUBS:
    Casillas
    Terry
    Cole
    Beckham
    Scholes
    van Nistleroy
    Nedved

Congratulations, only thing is, there'd be riots if theres a free kick on the edge of the box with this squad.

FUN FACT: Out of the 11 of these players, 10 of them have played in Serie A.

    Surprised at Terry...

Surely there are better CB's of the last decade?

Nothing against Terry and all, he is very good, but not whom I think of when I think of best of the decade.

Also, I think there were better midfielders than Scholes last decade. Based on talent anyway. Don't get me wrong, Scholes is a United legend, and class, but he isn't as talented/good as other midfielders out there.

I think Messi should be on the team instead of Ronaldinho. (Dinho subs, perhaps Nedved out depending on which part of the decade Nedved we are talking about) I think Messi could really complete this team.

Also, don't you find this team kinda... slow?

Messi was only great for a couple years this decade. As for Scholes, this isn't based on talent alone, but also performance and results. Scholes had his share of personal and team success this decade. As for it being slow...Ronaldinho, Henry, Ronaldo...those guys might be slow now because they're fat and old, but in their day they were bolts of lightning.

These were all voted by you, don't ask me, not a slow team. In their prime most of them were very fast. Also, their bound to be slow now after one decade.

True about that, I am thinking of today's perspective, but still, even the defense is fairly slow. (Except for Roberto Carlos of course)

That is my point with Scholes. He has been a legend for united, but I don't think that him as an individual should be in the team. Atleast I think there are other better options, who would be more useful to the team itself.

And regarding Messi, I think Messi today would get on the Decade XI, even if every player was at their peak. Atleast on the bench I would say.

Giving me a reason to put you back into my ignore list then?

The nationality has nothing to do with it. I gave a valid reason for Scholes, and I think I would prefer Ferdinand over Terry. All I said regarding Terry is that I think there are better CB's this decade than him.

    Slow?

Even with the likes of just Henry and Ronaldo up front the team has serious, serious pace! Ronaldinho was quck back in his day and Gerrard can have amazing little bursts sometimes. Carlos wasn't slow either.

    Not slow at all tbh.

Yah, there are players better deserving than Scholes and Gerrard I would think.

I'm fine with Gerrard being a sub though.

And yes, the defense is kind of slow other than Carlos.

Although that's arguably a better team, hardly any of those players have managed to play at a decent level throughout the decade.

Although that's arguably a better team, hardly any of those players have managed to play at a decent level throughout the decade.

Most players haven't. In fact, it's almost a mathematical and biological certainty that most players won't maintain a high level throughout an entire decade. The prime years of most footballers, even the greatest, rarely exceed more than 6 or 7 years. Thus, it's nearly humanly impossible for anybody to be a peak performer for an entire decade.
