Danny Murphy - The Best English Midfielder of his Generation Empty Danny Murphy - The Best English Midfielder of his Generation

Post by Guest Fri Apr 06, 2012 11:02 am

I do believe that he is. A player with more natural ability than both Gerrard and Lampard, as well as infinitely more tactical awareness. Probably the only English midfielder of his generation who could actually control the game with his passing. I think it's a crying shame that his development was compromised for the sake of an inferior player in Steven Gerrard. Had he born in a country like Spain, this kind of thing would have never happened. He would have been appreciated, nurtured and developed into one of the world's leading play-makers. Instead, he's been thrown at what has been an average side for the past decade where he has had to deal with players several levels below his footballing capabilities, and despite all that, he's still been one of the best and most consistent midfielders in the league.

What are your opinions on Danny Murphy? Are you capable of appreciating his phenomenal technical ability, or are you a tactical dinosaur and think that he belongs at a mid-table side like Fulham?

I'm not seeing anyone provide any coherent arguments as to why they disagree. I guess that means that he is indeed the best English midfielder of his generation.

Regarding this point, Fulham is beginning to match his level. Ruiz and Dembele are both fantastically gifted players.

Oh, forgot about him. Danny Murphy had the potential to be as good. Maybe if he had started at a club that appreciated technical ability, like Manchester United, he would have reached the same level.

Thought you were trolling because you said about him being the only Englishmen to control a game etc.. when Scholes is obviously far superior to Danny Murphy.

He's not far superior in terms of natural ability. He's just been groomed better by more competent personnel.

Can you prove it? How often do you watch Fulham play with Danny Murphy pulling the strings in midfield? If you often do, you'll have seen how excellent he is at controlling the game despite often being surrounded by players way below his level. His passing statistics speak for themselves. He's up there with the most accurate passers in the league and he's 35. What a fucking player.

You can still be a very good player and be inferior to the best English midfielder of your generation, who is Paul Scholes, I don't need to prove anything, it's my opinion.

No, you can't prove it because you cannot. I am aware that Paul Scholes has developed into the better player, but there is no way of proving that he is more naturally talented than Danny Murphy.
