From the replays I have seen, I didn't see the linesman raise his flag. But does it really matter? The players are supposed to continue play until the center referee blows his whistle.

Doesn't matter. The linesman doesn't decide if play stops. He can only signal to the ref if he sees an infraction by putting his flag up. It's the ref's discretion to play the advantage or not, which is clearly what the ref did in that case. Gomes fucked up.

How could he have seen that when he was only just inside that half of the pitch? the liner messed up with that decision not the ref
