Ramsey faced half of Germany, Capello faced all of Germany and most of Poland and Turkey as well
Ramsey faced Eusebio in the Semi Final and he had 4 goals disallowed, after Portugal had been forced to move stadium at the last minute

Give Capello all the advantages Ramsey had, and give Ramsey all of Capello's disadvantages and I'm sure things would have turned out a bit differently.

Would be funny if you weren't actually trying to argue a point of discrimination.

I don't see any contradiction there. If Capello had faced a Germany side which composed solely of players from the West of Germany rather than all over Eastern Europe, like Alfred Ramsey did, he would have had a much better chance of winning.

Klose and Podolski were both born in Poland. It is a shame that they have both let their country down, abandoning their roots to play for Germany.

I know where they were born. They are still German as well as Polish.

Klose is ethnically half German and he moved to Germany when he was 6.
Podolski has some ethnics roots in Germany and he moved to Germany when he was 2.

If anything they'd be letting down Germany by choosing Poland.

Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with those Polish players turning out for Germany, but it's not something that happened in 1966, that's for sure, and it's something that should be taken into account when comparing Alfred Ramsey with Fabio Capello.

It's a disgrace, comments like that about another club's manager. If I was a Tottenham fan I would be making plans to kill Ferguson at this moment.

I agree, I can't believe how many people are making them. Redknapp is contracted to Tottenham. It's incredibly disrespectful to his current employers.

Read some quotes from Jamie Redknapp the other day saying he actually not 100% for the England job anymore after the support he got from Spurs during the trial and that. I'll try and find them but he's more torn about taking the job now then before.

I'm 50/50 on it. I know he'd do well (despite everyone else's thoughts of him going to do shite) but don't want him to leave Spurs as he's done so well for us since coming in.

Jamie might be the one to convince him to stay, being his son and all, as well as a former Tottenham captain. Capello Quits - Page 17 279869

And fucking Dalglish is at it now, trying to unsettle Ferguson at United. There is absolutely nothing that man won't stoop to - I remember when he got his daughter to start asking Ferguson awkward questions to unsettle David De Gea.

Just Ferguson inparticular, he has a reputation for playing mind games.

Arsene Wenger was asked about it and said he 'dosen't want to interfere with that at all' this is what every manager and player should be saying, not publicly tweeting nationalist comments and unsettling other clubs.

We might as well stick every candidate in the Big Brother house and let the public and media decide the next English manager. Seems like that's basically how it's going anyway.

Euro 2008 semi finals with Russia

Quite a lot won at club level.

Would be a good choice. Better than some of the shite ITV have come up with:

Fabio Capello's shock exit has created a vacancy for an England manager, just four months away from the start of Euro 2012.
Unlike when Capello was offered £6million a year to clear up the mess left by Steve McClaren, the Football Association do at least have options - and some of them are even English.
    HARRY REDKNAPP
Ticks all the boxes; English, managed in the Champions League, won trophies, plays attractive football and has done so with Tottenham thanks to a core of English players, including captaincy candidate Scott Parker. Has to be the overwhelming favourite.
    ROY HODGSON
Was strongly fancied to replace Capello following the 2010 World Cup. However, before the FA made their decision, Hodgson plumped for an ill-fated spell with Liverpool. Now at West Brom, Hodgson has vast managerial experience and would be viewed as a safe pair of hands.
    ALAN PARDEW
After difficult spells at Charlton and Southampton, Pardew has re-established his reputation at Newcastle. Overcome a lot of scepticism to re-establish the Magpies as a top-flight force and not yet out of contention for a Champions League place after an outstanding campaign.
    STUART PEARCE
Long-time coach of the England Under-21 side and confirmed as boss of the Olympic team later this year. Pearce's fierce reputation as a player took a knock when he failed to curb the excesses of Joey Barton at Manchester City. Lacks experience of the club scene but many other countries prefer to appoint from within.
    JOSE MOURINHO
Impeccable CV and perfect grasp of English. One man who would have no problem controlling the dressing-room egos. Tipped to leave Real Madrid in the summer, his fiery temperament might be a big problem for the FA, in addition to his salary demands, which are sure to be high.
    ARSENE WENGER
Hugely respected in England and his knowledge of the domestic game clearly an advantage. In the middle of a vast rebuilding exercise at Arsenal, where some fans have turned against him, so not impossible to believe he could be prised away. Never shown any liking for the international game though.

Seriously though, I went back to Turkey recently (and I've seen enough of them where I live) and generally they come across to me friendly, kind and sociable people. Generally I'd say they're the people in the Muslim world I've had best experience with. Kuwait is pretty good as well. I went to a tourist place though, not the streets of Istanbul, so I guess it could be that.
