Why do Manchester United defend the behaviour of an indivdual who stamps on opponents, abuses his national team supporters and shouts abuse down cameras?

Because Rooney can be a massive cunt who does wrong things when things aren't going his away, I'm not afraid to say that about him because he's a United player..

No. It is the same question. Why do Manchester United fans continue to defend Wayne Rooney?

When have we ever excused his bad behaviour?

He should have been sent off, and everyone admitted to that. I don't see your problem.

No it was in self defence.
McCarthy deliberately blocked him.

That is the difference between Rooney and Suarez right there. Manchester United fans (obviously not all) admit when he's done wrong and criticise him for it. Whereas Liverpool fans (not all) blindlessly defend Suarez regardless of what he's done.

So in your mind RR arguing that Rooney wouldn't be found guilty of assault in a court of law is the same as condoning his behavior?

Apart from anything else, violent conduct in self defence is still a red card.

Unacceptable, I do not defend this.
abuses his national team supporters
They were abusing him, it's fair enough.
and shouts abuse down cameras?
Unpleasant and regrettable behaviour.

Suarez has also done a lot more and worse than Rooney.

Maybe not on this forum, but I do happen to remember Alex Ferguson defending Wayne Rooney after his stamp in the Macedonia vs England game.

To be honest, it seems like fans defend Suarez's actions more than Rooney's. It's one thing to be loyal towards your club and players. But that shouldn't get in the way of common sense and fairness.

Well Ferguson is an extremely biased man who will do dishonourable things to protect his players, including lying to the press and condoning unpleasant behaviour. Your question relates to Manchester United fans though.

It does not. I have clearly stated in the OP that I am asking why Manchester United, the club, defend this behaviour of Wayne Rooney.

That is not correct. The Manchester United fans were abusing Luis Suarez does this mean he can abuse them too?

Oh right, well that's easy, because it's in their interests. I don't recall Manchester United as a club defending Rooney after the incident in South Africa though, nor after stamping on a player. A defence was mounted in the case of the swearing at the camera because it was felt that the FA's response was harsh and, as opined by the chief of the PFA, grossly inconsistent.

What sort of response do you expect to that question though?
They (forum members) can't exactly read Fergie's mind.
