Gerrard, but i'd rather him not play for England, so Joe Hart should get it.

I would like Joe Hart or Scott Parker to get it but it will probably be Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard which is quite sad in my opinion.

Joe Hart. Most professional lad in the team.

Re: Next England captain?
I don't blame Ferdinand for ruling himself out after the maner of how he was stripped of the captaincy last time. Gerrard shouldn't even be in the England set up altogether IMO, let alone be the captain.
I think i'd rather see it given to one of the young prospects such as Joe Hart as many have suggested, or Gary Cahill, not any of the so called 'golden generation'. I still think Lampard will get it though.

Re: Next England captain?
Joe Hart would be a great captain, but I'd say give him the armband AFTER the Euros so he has the qualifiers to get used to the captaincy and gain experience before the World Cup. Don't throw him into to a tournament after being captain for a few games, too young for that IMO. Jack Wilshere would be the same.

Joe Hart is the only decent player, so it should be him (Until (if) Wilshere plays (ever) again and grows up a bit and manages his temper and what not)

Mind games is all i think. Keepers seem to be captain when no-one has a better idea in my experience, so considering the best candidates are on the way out and the ones who aren't are too young, i think Hart should have it eventually.

Re: Next England captain?
Hard to say....there's not many experienced/influential people in the team who could take it for one reason or another.
Cole? No.
Ferdinand? No.
Lampard? If fit maybe.
Gerrard? If fit maybe.
Rooney? Banned for the first two games so not really appropriate.
So it's a bit odd but...I guess Hart is the best answer, though I don't think he'll get it. If either Lampard or Gerrard are regulars in the side then they should get it. If not then Hart. He controls his box quite well and he's vocal.

Fit Rio Ferdinand > Gary Cahill.Big_Lad_Pardew wrote:Rio or Frank? They will have to get in the team first.
The capitancy is overrated. I'd give it to someone who having the captains armband, would improve their performance, so i'd give it to rooney.
Problem is he never seems to be fit during an international break.
Think Gerrard will get it, but then again he'd have to get into the team again as well, which he probably will with Wilshere fucked.
Joe Hart seems a decent shout, there aren't many others.

The guy's a prick. And not to mention he doesn't start for England regularly based on his Chelsea form.

Re: Next England captain?
Even if Rooney wasn't banned... I really couldn't see him being the captain. He is just not the type to captain the team. Too hot headed and gets riled up too easily.Lux wrote:Hard to say....there's not many experienced/influential people in the team who could take it for one reason or another.

Re: Next England captain?
I'm baffled as to why people are suggesting Gerrard again, he hasn't featured in a competitive international since the World Cup, he's injury prone, and honestly i think the team has adapted without him now.

Oh I agree Ashley Cole isn't suitable. I'm just wondering what makes him less suitable than John Terry.

I wouldn't say he's less suitable than JT. Just not suitable at all.Laurencio wrote:Danny wrote:The question should probably be why Ashley Cole?

No, but Lux ferociously disagrees with removing John Terry as captain, so I'm wondering why Ashley Cole is unsuitable for him when John Terry should remain captain despite being, argueably, a lot more controversial.
For me it's Joe Hart. Best player, most professional, and the least controversial one of them all.
