150 grand a week? Haha, I'd be happy with £20k

I can't believe how much footballers get paid, they have everything and want more with it, crazy. I'd be happy playing first team for Chelsea on 15 - 20 grand a week. Anyone else?

Footballers get paid a lot because they're in a big money business, they're not just players but they're a franchise.
Bankers can earn in excess of £20m a year, a footballer gets nothing near that.
And £150,000 grand a week is £150m, I'd be delighted with that

I remember a story about a banker during the recession, he earned £20,500,000 in a year. They're the cunts who caused the recession.
£20.5m is around £395k a week.

Though I do agree with this, remember anything above 100k will be halved so that's down to 75k.
It's only the top players that earn these sums of money and there aren't a shit load of top players earning these salaries.
There are a hell of a lot of more bankers and high business men who earn these sums with bonuses included, more than footballers . Footballers give us something to look foward to, week in, week out. They're employees to a business. I really don't wanna argue with it but football is a business before entertainment, sport etc.
I'm happy for them to earn their wages when they're given to them. It's only when fucktards like Rooney come along and think he's the best thing to grace football and demand fucking stupidly over the top wages.

Ah, cleared a few things up. Then theres Man City, .
Bankers really on that much? Don't they briefley take our money do deals with it, give themselves what they earn from "gambling" with our money, then give the bit of interest for letting us do it or them making the money. Something like that isn't it?

Best thing I heard was from Ashley Cole's autobiography.
He said something like his agent called him and said Arsenal were offering something like 60k a week, and he said he almost crashed his car when he heard.
I was thinking he thought that offer was so good he nearly crashed his car. Turns out it was the opposite

Me and my Dad were watching the City vs Arsenal game the other day and he said to me, "You know what, the way that Arsenal play, I reckon even me or you would score a good few goals as a striker, not as many as the real strikers, but we'd have more chance of scoring for the Arsenal side than any other side in the League"
He was referring to how Arsenal can beautifully set up easy goals for the strikers to score.

It's the same old cliche but you're all full of shit, ya know that?
The reality of the market is that these are the going prices. You say you'd be happy with 1k, 10k, 20k etc. But if you were good enough to play top flight football and you were on 20k and you knew you could make 40k, 50k or 100k somewhere else, you're telling me you wouldn't take it? Fuck off haha

If I was at Liverpool on 20k I wouldn't go elsewhere. I'd maybe ask for a payrise but ultimately wouldn't leave.

We're talking about the top 0.000001% of footballers in the world. When we have these threads that ask "is X world class?," we know what they mean by that. But in comparison to the rest of the world, the answer on every single one of them is a resounding YES! All of these guys are world class. There's only a few hundred people in the world who can play football like these ninjas, out of many hundreds of millions of people who play football on this rock.

True, there are always going to be teams that get certain players at a discount because of other considerations like the club, the fans, the stadium, the romance surrounding the club, the tradition and the opportunity to win trophies. But everything has a subjective value. The fact of the matter is that if you were on 20k but could fetch 120k elsewhere, if your agent was worth half an elephant's ass, he could get Liverpool to bump you at least to 70 or 80. And you'd take it in a heart beat.

Around 55 million people live in England. 23 are called up to the England squad as they are the best in the country. Not even a quarter of these are being paid over £100,000 a week. So good example! .

It's a perfectly fine example regardless of the specific numbers. If you don't understand the point I'm making, you're either in denial or a retard, only you know which (and maybe you don't even know).
The fact of the matter is that if you were on 10k but were good enough to be on 80k, or 100k or 150k, you suddenly wouldn't be so thrilled with your 10k.

If I was a professional footballer, I'd ask for 10-20k per week. Nothing more.
2k per week and I can live more than happily. The other 8-18k can be used to invest in my interests.

But you have to remember that 99% of the players have been farmed since a young age. Getting payed for football since like 15/16. This is very much a career to them.
But your average joe like me and you haven't. We've been playing football just out of love for the game. Shit if you're in a competitive team you would have been paying to play. I think the majority of people like me and you would be so grateful to the team that gave you the chance to win the lottery every week.
I've done 13 hour days for ridiculously low money. If I got 20k a week to play football I'm not going to fuck over the club that gave it to me. I know what I've done so far in my life, I haven't been in some acadamy getting my food, apartment, and everything paid for.
That's the difference, imo, that's why we're different to proffesional footballers.

Anyone who says they would be happy with their salaries if they were in the footballer's shoes is lying. Statistically speaking, people think their salaries should be 10% higher than it currently is. It doesn't matter if you are making $0.50/hr or $5 billion/hr.

I wouldn't be fucking complaining.
I think money can buy you happiness, as long as you get it for nothing, or for something like football.
