Same, i think Arjen Robben is quality, and one of the few decent players at the 2010 World Cup.

Exactly how Gyan and Klose are there whilst the likes of Lampard and Lucio are not is beyond me.
He was nothing special in the world cup. Excellent for Inter but his Holland form was really overrated, just an ok tournament topped with some lucky goals, overall performances left a lot to be desired.

Re: Ballon d'Or
Robben is a good player but fuck is he annoying! He typically takes the same tact (run up the wing and then cut in a few yards short of the area and try to rip a left footed shot) and he makes so much out of every little ounce of contact he draws.

the fact that asamoah Gyan is in that list and wayne rooney isn't shows that the list is biased to the WC!!!!

I think Holland would have done the exact same as they did even without Sneijder. I would call him more overrated than underrated to be honest.

Nah. He scored some massive goals. They probably don't get by Brazil without him.

This can't be a surprise to you surely. Every time there is an award awarded in the same year as a World Cup that always takes precedence over just about everything else. Why do you think Fabio Cannavaro won his World Player of the Year award.

Exactly. I was just going to make that exact same point.
World Cups are weighted. I wouldn't call it bias. It's only the biggest tournament the world has to offer. So naturally, performances in the World Cup will be weighted more heavily.

True he did have a major impact for them, but I think Holland is so loaded with talent they would have gone far one way or another.

Majority of his world cup goals were flukes.

Yeah, aside from Chelsea supporters. If this were any other year I would say it would be possible, but in World Cup years, you basically have to have a stellar World Cup to win an individual award.
If the World Cup wasn't a factor then I think Wayne Rooney would easily be the front runner for the award, but with him having one of the worst WC of all time he isn't even in the running.

Probably. Not that he doesn't deserve it though. He's probably third on my list behind Messi and Ronaldo. But Drogba doesn't get much favor in award voting. He probably should have been Player of the Year in the Premiership for 09-10 but Rooney won it easily.

Wrong. Only the terrible cross that was credited as a goal was the only fluke in my opinion.

Rooney's been shite since the World Cup anyways, he doesn't deserve to be in it at all.

Didn't really surprise me. It's hard to overlook someone scoring 42 goals in 49 games while also having nearly 10 assists. That was one hell of a season and would have been the biggest crock of all time had he not won the awards.

He's had some pretty noteworthy performances that extended beyond March though. He was easily Bayern Munich's best player in the Champions League elimination rounds and was the biggest reason they got to the final. He also had a solid World Cup.

Kenny Miller. 13 goals in 9 league appearances.
