These are the favorites in my view. But the official list of finalists is as follows:

Xabi Alonso (Spain), Daniel Alves (Brazil), Iker Casillas (Spain), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon), Cesc Fabregas (Spain), Diego Forlan (Uruguay), Asamoah Gyan (Ghana), Andres Iniesta (Spain), Julio Cesar (Brazil), Miroslav Klose (Germany), Philipp Lahm (Germany), Maicon (Brazil), Lionel Messi (Argentina), Thomas Muller (Germany), Mesut Ozil (Germany), Carles Puyol (Spain), Arjen Robben (Holland), Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany), Wesley Sneijder (Holland), David Villa (Spain) and Xavi (Spain).

Sneijder shouldn't be anywhere near it, most overrated player in the world right now.

    I'd pick Messi.

Yea. Thought Rooney might have been able to sneak in but the last few months for him have been so bad. He didn't keep it up long enough.

From January to April he was arguably the best player in the world. But after having an abysmal World Cup he really has struggled to get his form back. Neutral

Like Mal, I've gotta say it. If Gyan's there, where's Rooney?

Fair point that WC onwards he couldn't regain his form though.

Uefa president Michel Platini believes goal-line technology would lead to "Playstation football".

I doubt that Michel, Playstation football isn't that realistic; it doesn't yet include deliberate hand balls, players walking out of training, or a "play like spastics" mode for the France team.

This list is blatantly based on the WC onwards.

If it was the whole of 2010 then Ashley Cole should be there.

If Gyan is there then Rooney should deffo be there.

Possibly Lampard, he was quality at the end of last season.

And Bale has been good in 2010

Only reason Cole ain't there is probably because of his Ankle injury which made him miss most of the second half of last season Neutral

Well Cristiano Ronaldo definitely won't be winning it so that really only leaves Lionel Messi, unless they feel the need to give it to Sneijder since he was the main star for the treble winning Inter team.

I think Mourinho is also a lock to get World Manager of the Year also.

Personally I would love to see Arjen Robben win the award because I think of all the players mentioned on the list aside from Cesc Fabregas he meant the most to his respective team during he season.

Sneijder, UNDER-RATED in my oppinion. If it was not for him Holland would not be world cup finalist and Inter probably would not have won the champions league.

Exactly how Gyan and Klose are there whilst the likes of Lampard and Lucio are not is beyond me.
