Sergei Pareiko - He has been having a very shaky season. What happened to him? He was the best keeper in the league last season. His form has started to pick up since Maaskant's sacking.
Milan Jovanic - We should release him. He isn't good enough and looked worse then Pareiko has this when given matchtime. He had a couple decent appearances though.
Marko Jovanovic - Thought he was a fantastic investment in the summer being the best defender in Serbia, but he was horrendous in the preseason. He has proven his critics wrong however and is now arguably our best right back. (though we signed him for CB..)
Michael Lamey - Don't know where to begin. The guy is a total mess, he was released from Leicester for good reason. He is good going forward though and has had a few moments of brilliance, particularly in Europe. I want to keep him in January for depth but I want him released in the summer.
Kew Jaliens - Absolute fucking disaster. Worst defender to play for Wisla in some time, and that is saying
ALOT. I have no idea what Valckx saw in him, he usually is brilliant with transfers. What's worse is former manager Maaskant's stubbornness when it came to Jaliens, having him play every minute. This guy is probably on the biggest wage at the club as well.
Osman Chavez - He is a good defender but he has his moments, though I feel these moments are mostly caused by Jaliens, who has been his cb partner for most the season. Overall, I am happy we signed him permanently. He has the horrible habit of playing the ball and trying to dribble his way out of pressure which is a ticking time bomb. I get super nervous whenever he does this - which is often.
Gordan Bunoza - He's been injured, and when fit, Jaliens, Chavez and even Kowalski were favored over him by Maaskant. He was great last season and looked solid in his cameos this season. He still is rather young and has a bright future at this club IMO. Potentially future Bosnian starter.
Mateusz Kowalski - I feel for him. He's simply not good enough. Could make it at a lower table club maybe. We should let him go for the benefit of all parties.
Michal Czekaj - The 19 year old only played 4 matches this season but in each of them, he has looked great! Most notable match was when Jaliens got injured after 15 minutes in the game and he came on and bossed our half of the pitch. He's very tall and good in the air, I reckon he's got a bright future ahead of him, maybe can even make it in the bigger leagues.
Junior Diaz - Oh gosh. What has happened to him? I remember when he first signed for us from some Costa Rican pub team (ie their champions) and was wonderful. He transferred to Holland for over a million pounds, failed, and this season back on loan for us, and he is dire. Absolutely dire. If Jaliens wasn't the worst man on the pitch, Diaz probably was. Thank the non-existent god that he is only here on loan.
Dragan Paljic - Originally a winger in the Bundesliga, he has converted nicely as a left back nicely since coming here. Still too attacking minded though and is occasionally caught. He's been poorer this season and has a few haters among the fans, but I think they are unwarranted, the whole team played badly this fall, Paljic hasn't been particularly bad. The Left Back position still needs to be improved if we want to compete in Europe. (I think Paljic is better suited as a utility player at LB and the wing)
Gervasio Nunez - Famous player among Fulham fans.
Opinions on him vary greatly between our fanbase. He's had a few poor games and like Paljic, has attained a fair number of haters, but IMO he has more than made up for this with his better performances. We will most likely keep him on loan for the second half of the season but will we sign him? I guess it depends on how much his club wants for him and his performances in the Spring round.
Radoslaw Sobolewski - Our captain. He has been having an average season and is slowly being phased out permanently in favor of Cezary Wilk. This is likely and sadly his last season as a professional player.
Cezary Wilk - Becoming our starting defensive midfielder in a fluid 4-2-3-1 formation and taking over the role of Sobolewski. Wilk has always been a good player, but will he take over Sobolewski's role? I have my doubts, he isn't the anchorman Sobolewski is/was and is more attacking minded (kinda like Arsenal's Song). Others believe in him though. In my opinion, he should've won the Ekstraklasa's Best DM award ahead of Murawski.
Tomas Jirsak - He's been a loyal servant to Wisla, only 1 game away from attaining his 100th cap for the club. He's mostly been partnering Wilk at CM when Nunez isn't playing and has been our playmaker. Don't know what to say about him. He hasn't been anything special or particularly poor. He did finally score this season after hell knows how long though, and what a beautiful goal too!
Daniel Brud - Young player, Maaskant had experimented with him a bit both in midfield and in various defensive positions, didn't look particularly impressive. He, our 7th choice CB, was starting against Fulham for hell knows what reason.
Lukasz Gargula - Finally not injured and getting some minutes among all our other injuries. He hasn't really impressed though and it looks like his knee's are done. I suggest releasing him after this season, he can still salvage some career with other Ekstraklasa sides.
Maor Melikson - Best player in the team, great playmaker, great attacking midfielder, will have no problem starting for the middle to top sides in the top 4 leagues. He is what makes us tick and who starts our attacking pieces. He got injured at a crucial time though, and we really missed him during our European games.
Andraz Kirm - Meh.. He's been having a usual season. Sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't. He is still a good player and I am happy to have him.
Patryk Malecki - Scored lots of crucial goals, he has a fantastic work rate and could easily help back to defend but chooses not to due to laziness. Very controversial as well, almost started a twitter war with our fans after complaining about us booing the team after loosing to Cracovia Krakow. Like Melikson, he got injured at a very crucial point of the season and we missed him in the group stages. In addition, I feel he has learned all he can at Wisla and it pains me to say, for him to improve as a player, he needs to go to the Bundesliga. He(I want to see if someone is actually reading this post, if you are, post a
smiley) is a very good talent and I have no doubt he could make it there.
Ivica Iliev - Many thought he was too old or not good enough, but he has proven his critics wrong after being player of the year and winning the golden boot in Serbia, and proving his talent at Wisla. He is the only other player other than Melikson and Malecki who can actually do something with the ball. Overall, solid transfer. His age is a concern though.
Tsvetan Genkov - Not much to say. He was given many opportunities but simply can't score. He's missing the spark he had last season. He finally scored a simple goal a few weeks ago, hopefully this is enough to encourage him in the Spring.
Rafal Boguski - He was a great little player years ago, but since his constant injuries, he just doesn't have it in him anymore. Maaskant refused to play him this season, but Moskal has given him a few chances and he just doesn't impress anyone.
Dudu Biton - He's been very well composed infront of the goal, and follows Lech's Rudnev in the league goalcharts. Now that Melikson is back, I would like to see him link up play with him more. He is only on loan for us, but I am 100% we will use the Europa League funds to buy him permanently.
