The former president in question, 28 year old Jaime Estrada, resigned from his post at CF Manta to join the squad as a striker. Lo and behold he scored on his debut.

NB. He became club president by inheriting the post from his father.

Sounds like the plot of a Cantiflas film. Laughing

In Mexico from 1998 to 2012 Juan Carlos Leaño was Estudiantes Tecos captain. He was also for all intents and purposes the owner of the club as his father owned it. He scored 7 goal, made 300 appearances and only retired after they went down to the 2nd division.

He was considered by many the worst defender in the league and was called "the own goal king."

    Good times, good times.
