Let's not forget, Lucas is the best defensive midfielder in world football according to Liverpool fans, you need to be going for someone better. I hear that Sergio Busquets is having arguments with Barcelona over his contract, maybe King Kenneth could convince him to move to Liverpool in January, Mascherano's always said that he loved the club, and he was the best defensive midfielder in world football according to most Liverpool fans from 2007-10. What about Xabier Alonso? He was the best deep lying playmaker in world football according to Liverpool fans, maybe he could do Lucas's job? What about Xavi or Iniesta? I'm sure they'd love to play under the great "King Kenny".
Then again, maybe you should look internally. Jordan Henderson is the best young midfielder in Europe, maybe you could give him a go, or maybe Jay Spearing, who is also one of the best prospects in world football. Steven Gerrard is the world's most complete midfielder, he'll be a fine replacement for Lucas when he returns. You guys don't need to worry, half of Europe is desperate to play for you, and you have absolutely amazing young players to step into the void.
I know Liverpool fans think it's getting old, but that was funny.

Not really seen Roma play not heard anything bad about him though so I presume he is doing the business as usual.Dean wrote:I meant in playing terms. Never mentioned anything about him joining us.

Isn't Lassana Diarra unhappy at Real Madrid? Could well be an option for us.

Mourinho has been using him quite a lot at right back and in midfield recently so I doubt he will leave. Not in January anywayScouser_Dave wrote:Isn't Lassana Diarra unhappy at Real Madrid? Could well be an option for us.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd be up for that, go back to Real Madrid where he is unhappy after wasting a season of his career at Liverpool, when he could have been playing a part in taking La Liga off Barcelona. That's very realistic.

Like Adebayor would never leave City, taking the Premier League title away from Manchester United Football Club, to waste a year of his precious life at Tottenham Hotspur football club?ResurrectionRooney wrote:Scouser_Dave wrote:

Sven/Lars bender....Probably Lars because he'd be cheaper. He seems to recycle the ball well and leverkusen are fantastic at maintaing possession. Although we have had scouts at Dortmund.

Kuyt
That wouldn't be bad either Suarez and Kuyt link up well.
I would like that as long as maxi and Bellamy swapped around

Well for a start it would only be half the season considered we'd be signing him in January. Secondly he's already had this to say:
"There's too much competition here [at Real Madrid]. I do not want to stay on the bench any longer," said Diarra.
"I am sure that my contribution could be important," he continued. "A project like Roma's would be perfect and then I want go to the Euros [with France]."
Clearly states there that he's looking for first team Football so that he can impress to get into the France squad at the Euro's next year. Would make perfect sense for him to come here where he be certain to play every game with absence of Lucas.

What if we sign a holding midfielder who is so good that when Lucas comes back, he is able to play in a more advanced position?

His passing game has improved dramatically though. He was also an attacking midfielder when he arrived, obviously. It wouldn't be a terrible idea, and I would like to see him given freedom to go forward.Cadbury wrote:xPeterLFC95 wrote:What if we sign a holding midfielder who is so good that when Lucas comes back, he is able to play in a more advanced position?

He has played in a more advanced positions in a couple of games so far (iirc think there was a napoli game where him and gerrard took turns to go forward) and he looked good.
