The last two decades have seen the biggest explosion of human technology development mankind has seen!

Not really something you learn about in History though. I guess you have the war on terror, but what else really is there?
You don't learn about technology in history? Suspect What kind of class are you taking? Laughing

In the future, it'll be boring cos like it'll seem like us learning about steam engines or something

Naw man, the rise of global terrorism, financial chaos, middle eastern revolutions, the wars yet to be had, rise of social media ... should be interesting shit.

    Nope SBSP.

@Jamie, take the Cold War, that was only a couple of decades but was far more eventful than these last 2 decades

I agree, quite a lot to discuss about Modern History. I would be interested.

History will obviously change over time.

Think about learning about Ancient Rome or Egypt, then about Colonial history and then about modern day history. They teach different things really. Modern History is much more political.

I would imagine that future history lessons of our age would go more in detail politically.

Plus it only seems this way because we live in this age. This age has seen rapid changes, just twenty years ago the world was ran by two superpowers, we've seen the rise of China, rapid changes in the middle east, Europe (for the most part Laughing) politically united for the first time in history, and the decline of Japan and America. It may not seem this way but this era is a very interesting era.

It's hard to find our history interesting when you're in it (unless something MASSIVE is going on like the space race or WW2) but I think this period will go down well in history (in terms of big events)

Steam engines are probably interesting to many people though, different aspects of history are more fascinating to some than others.

Maybe, I still think there are many events/changes in the last decade worthy of being taught about in the future. Like I said though I'm not an expert on this.

Lets say we were designing a syllabus for a History course 50 years in the future regarding 2000-2011. What would you put on it?

Yeah, I think I just think it's not that interesting cos I'm living in it. Its like reading a book and you don't know what happens and how all the stuff plays out like something could happen next week, like a major major attack that makes a turning point in the war on terror or whatever and we don't know yet shifty

Peak Oil, Financial Collapse, Japan's lost decade, EU, terrorism and Middle East conflicts, rise of China, the change technology has had on the average persons life, and the continued destruction of the world's ecology and the reason why I'm living underground in 2060. Wink
