Wait what? How is Theon not a douche, he killed Rodrik, and among others two random orphan boys.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
Well, this is set in a time where things are more extreme, and the morality of humanity isn't so clearly defined. You have incest to keep the bloodline pure for instance. Anyway, Roderick he was pressured into, he obviously did not want to do it but he had to in order to save his face, especially with his daddy issues. The other one, well fuck that. They didn't show it, plus it's cheap, so I don't really care.

Just because times are different doesn't mean that what these guys do isn't evil. Incest is still looked upon as taboo in that world or else it woulnt have been a secret that Jaimie and Cersei had to keep.
As for the issue with the boys, how is it cheap? The TV series obviously isn't going to show everything that's going on, in AKOC Robb is winning battles left and right, yet in the show we haven't even seen him lift a sword, does that mean he's not a good commander?

It's cheap because they are the pictures of innocence and an excellent way to signal that Theon is an evil douche. He's just misunderstood.

I like Theon too and I think he will redeem, as well.
Tyrion will start a plot to kill Joffrey and perhaps Sansa or wahtever may have a part to play in it.
Interested to see how Snow plans to escape that. should have cut that girls throat

Misunderstood. But evil.
I do sympathies with Theon though, he was basically a hostage of the Starks even though they treated him well, when he returns home he expects to be treated like somebody but isn't (obviously) so he's conflicted between his two families. He's doing evil shit but you can understand why, seems like that with all the "bad" characters really, sign of a good series when they are that deep.

If anything Tyrion seems to be looking out for Sansa. Then again that maybe just because if she isn't kept safe then they have no chance of getting Jamie back.Mustangt125 wrote:I like Theon too and I think he will redeem, as well.

Like Tywin is the head of an 'evil' faction, but his conversations with Arya show him to be a really cool guy. Like how they've given depth and reason for most of the bad characters. Except Joffrey, all he wants is to hurt, maim and kill.
They took steps in the first season to show that Theon was still an outsider, should have seen it coming. Tyrion's witty conversation with him early on, and then Robb's cold response when they took Bran out to the forest.

Yeah to keep Jamie safe and that's what I meant, as in Tyrion would use her to help kill Joffrey since it's obvious even to his mom that Sansa doesn't like him.

I'd say the chief reasons they keep it secret are that Joffrey is a bastard, not legitimately the King, and it was a betrayal of Robert. The Targarians practised incest for generations according to last night's episode.

True, but the Targaryens are not the same people as others in the Seven Kingdoms.
Perhaps they just have a different culture, or they didn't want to mix with non Valyrians

Theon - Prick. Never actually liked him.
Jon Snow - Naive pussy.
Tywin - Cool guy, intelligent and experienced.
Jamie - Don't even pretend he's not a prick. Good fighter but that's it.

Robb Stark- So cool he doesn't get much screentime for fear he may take the shine off others.
Jon's just not grounded enough in reality. Being his father's son, and unfortunate, I'm completely behind him. I'm behind all the Stark children, apart from Bran because he's too young. And that other kid, Ricon, whatever.

Re: Game of Thrones Thread
Tywin is a classy guy. You can tell both he and Arya have a mutal respect for each other. In season 1 I thought he was the big boss and main 'bad guy' of the series, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case.
My opinion on Theon has changed too. You can tell he secretly feels upset inside, but he's still a monster.

Aww you ruined it. It could have been Bran and his brother.

- I dunno if he's read the book or whatever......but it just seems obvious that it's not them. There is still too much story for Brann to kill him off. Plus they found two children, but not the giant or the woman?

I know it's unlikely and that it's probably the 2 boys that Bran's brother mentioned, but still..

In an earlier episode that farmer came to Brann and asked for help with his crops.
Brann said you can have two orphans to help. So it's probably them.
Pretty sure that's the case anyway...

Theon is worse than Joffery. At least Joffery has always been forthright about being a dick.
If he's conflicted that's even worse, his morals tell him that it's wrong but he does it anyway. Joffery clearly has no morals so gives 0 fucks.

Theon is much more watchable. I just can't stand Joffrey and his voice. Theon has rich history, ambivalent feelings, and exhibits a variety of emotions.

His face is sort of off though, can't say why it just is a bit.
I was getting a bit sick of Daenerys until the end of the episode, that story was taking too long to progress.
Sort of feel like there could be some sort of alliance between Stark and Lannister because of Arya and Papa Lannister, but they would have to write Joffery off as he killed Ned I guess. That probably wont happen.
