I've watched the entire first season now and I've enjoyed it very much. Thank God I started watching around the time the 2nd season comes out or I'll start to have withdrawal symptoms.

Nope, because I will enjoy the series less if I am anticipating events.

Is the 2nd season still based of the the Game of Thrones book. Or is it the 2nd book but with the same name?

GOT is the first book, second series on the second book. I think.

Reading the first book before the second seasons starts atm... almost finished.

Interesting how the series follows the book almost identically. You'd give props to the tv series writer, but all he had to do was ctrl-c, ctrl-v. Laughing

Forgot to mention why Tyrion is overrated. When there's a solitary character with comedic value in a serious setting, he gets all the attention.

Although I'm not saying he isn't more fleshed out, he's still a great character.

I think he's great. The actors great too, fantastic skill putting on that accent.

I just feel as though things get really interesting when Tyrion shows up. All his lines are amazing and the actor uses them perfectly. Although looking at some websites he does seem to be the mainstream 'favourite character of the show'. But honestly beyond all that he's definitely one of my favourites.

I like Lord Varys too for some reason.

Tyrion's lines in the book are similarly awesome. He's become my favorite character in the book.

I don't think this is spoiler stuff, but you know the girl Tyrion brings to kingslanding at the end of the series? She is supposedly not from Westeros like she said in the show, but in the book, she is some peasant girl from the Riverlands. Quite a bit of her dialogue is slightly different too which is odd for the series which almost completely follows the book.

I wonder what the series has planned for her.

    No. Neutral

But even if you were to, what I am saying is I think the series are going to change things up from the books with her character.

So sad too, because his father died fighting alongside Eddard as well.

My dad has been reading the books....so I asked if I could borrow his Kindle and start reading them when he isn't.

I go to find the first book....and it's missing scratch ....so I go and ask him where it is and he said "The tv show is practically identical to the books, you might as well just start from book 2".

So I was a bit sceptical Neutral......but he's probably right.

Not really identical. I heard they cut a massive chunk out where Tyrion fights in that battle(The one where the hill tribes force him to fight with them). In the TV series he gets knocked out instead, obviously due to budget reasons.

Yah. Was quite interesting, Tyrion fought a little, we had some battle tactics and stuff. Twas neat.

In the book, he does say quite a bit.

He is the close family friend of the Starks, all the children are really close to him and even Eddard and him had a close relationship. (He must feel guilty over his fathers death I guess)

His death scene was much much sadder too. Jory and 3 other men were with Stark, the 3 others died quickly, but Jory fought off a few on his horse, when Eddard realized he was fucked, he yelled at Jory to run away, but they pushed Jory off his horse, he fought back a little but was eventually stabbed really badly or something (at this same moment, Eddard, the POV, got his leg smashed and didn't see what happened) then the Lannisters left. Eddard crawled to Jory's side and Jory died in Ned's arms as he cried and went blank to the loss of blood in his leg just as Littlefinger arrived.
