United, City and Chelsea will occupy the top 3 so I have no idea what they've got to do with what I said. Spurs will crumble as will Liverpool.Alan wrote:Steadman wrote:
It adds another couple of points we've gained on Liverpool on our inevitable fourth place finish.
Good luck with that one, maybe United, City, Chelsea, and Spurs might also have something to say about that.

I feel better about this game because hopefully Chamberlain and Coquelin will play in this one

And Arsenal will continue to look so solid.

Neither of them will play and it will be a much harder game than Stoke.psyroukis wrote:Steadman wrote:

Totally agreed and well Sunderland has a few chances after they made it one each, but i would say Arsenal deserved there win. But they have got to learn to grind results out at times and they need to sort that defense out, and if they could then they still have the football to beat teams when they are at there best. But then again they have know Nasri and Fabregas and they will be sorley missed.

Fabregas and Nasri aside, our defence has needed proper guidence for a long time now. At some stage you have to go deeper than just the players at your disposal to find the root of the problems. I mean if Arsene cannot get our players to even concentrate on something as simple as a throw in then there is definitely a problem between the training ground instructions and match day.Alan wrote:Steadman wrote:

Yes i agree with you its something that has needed sorted for a while, and well Wenger and the people inside the club must start looking at themselves and get something done about this. Its a strange one, because Wenger is no mug and some of his Arsenal teams have played some of the most attactive football ive ever seen in English football, and you would think he or the people at Arsenal would be able to get these players to be able to concentrate and see whats happening on the pitch in those situations.

Arsenal might as well be renamed Robin Van Persie FC. He is their driving force. I can't believe there were people who questioned his choice as Arsenal captain originally.

Van Persie > Rooney as I always say.

I wouldn't really compare the two of them. Van Persie is more of an out and out striker, while Rooney is more of a second striker.

Both can play the same roles as each other, and can be compared imo.parmizan wrote:I wouldn't really compare the two of them. Van Persie is more of an out and out striker, while Rooney is more of a second striker.

They can be compared, but I wouldn't tend to make the comparison. As a striker, Van Persie is better, however as a second striker, Rooney is the better player.

van Persie is nowhere near an out and out striker.

By striker, I don't mean a typical goal poacher. He does have so much more to his game, but I'd still regard him as more of a striker rather than a second striker, if that makes sesne.

He's never really been a master at building a defence, he inherited one of the best defences the English game has ever seen so for a few years he was sorted. His defensive training (or lack of) and extremely attacking tactics may have worked with our unbeaten team, mainly because we had an amazing balance in our squad and the players ability masked Arsene's tactical flaws, but these same tactics and mentality will not work with our current crop of players. He has failed to adapt like Ferguson has, his stubbornness to change and mold along with his predictability has become his major downfalls.Alan wrote:Steadman wrote:

Robin is a natural second striker, the only reason he leads our line is because we have have lacked a good striker since Adebayor left.parmizan wrote:They can be compared, but I wouldn't tend to make the comparison. That's a good point actually. I'd like to see him being played as a second striker again.

I know what you mean, but that's only because he is the lone striker, if he were in a partnership he would be the second striker.
