Would this be allowed?
Is there any law in the game that states that you cannot pick up a member of your team (to gain a height advantage) like they do in Rugby? What would the refs decision be? Imagine Crouch picking Defoe up, he'd never miss. If anyone can find a rule stating that you are/your not allowed to pick up a member of your team then that'll be much appreciated.

Well, you can't climb on people's shoulders, so do you really think you can pick them up?

Is there a rule stating this? I can't find one. If there's not a rule, then the ref has to allow itt.

Pretty obvious, you are just too stupid to realise.

Take a step back as well. Do you think it would be easy to score when you're being held in the air?

Maybe not. But if a team does score from this would the goal be allowed is my question?

No he doesn't, he can stop the game and book the players for Unsporting Behaviour.

Yes he does. The ref has to go by the rule book. He can't make up rules as he goes along.

I'm sure there isn't a rule stating that you can't hold the ball in your shirt and run with it, but if you did it, you'd get reprimanded.

The vagary of the Unsporting Behaviour rule exists for that purpose.

Crouch doesn't play with Defoe anymore, doubt he will play many games for the NT either

Re: Would this be allowed?
Not seen it happen like you described it, but I've seen clips on youtube from less known leagues where a tall played uses another tall player to gain an advantage of height on a corner.

Re: Would this be allowed?
A few years back I think a tall Slovakian guy from Korona Kielce used his teammate's shoulders as a booster to head in a goal from a corner. The goal was counted. Not exactly what you described but it's the closest example I could think of.

It happened in Kicking & Screaming, so of course it's allowed.

Re: Would this be allowed?
The answer is that it depends on the referee. Referee routinely make up their own rules, take the whole 'arm in an unnatural position' bullshit people always come out with, or the rule which says that tackles in the box must be punished less harshly than tackles outside the box. That's without even getting into the fucking 'Imaginary Card' rule that Howard Webb seems to be on a mission to implement which is basically used to discriminate against people who can't speak English.

Re: Would this be allowed?
This is actually a good question. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, although it would be very difficult to score. If it's not allowed, it would have to fall under unsporting behavior.

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact
with the ball with his hand or arm. The referee must take the following
into consideration:
• the movement of the hand towards the ball (not the ball towards
the hand)
• the distance between the opponent and the ball (unexpected
ball)
• the position of the hand does not necessarily mean that there is
an infringement
• touching the ball with an object held in the hand (clothing,
shinguard etc.) counts as an infringement
• hitting the ball with a thrown object (boot, shinguard etc.) counts
as an infringement
