But after that season in his 3rd season the team changed again and it was Dalglish who changed it about, with players like Beardsley, Barnes, Aldridge, McMahon, Houghton and Spackman and the likes, all Dalglish singings the main part of that great team that went 29 League games unbeaten from the start of the season and only lost 2 league games in a 40 game League season.

And they played some of the most attactive attacking football ever seen in the Englsih game that season and for the next 3 to 4 years, losing out for the his 2nd league and Cup Double when Wimbledon beat Liverpool in the FA Cup final and the following year, the year of Hillsborough he also just missed out on the League and Cup Double when a last minute winner from Arsenal won them the title for them. And that season Liverpool had to play lots of catch up games because of Hillsbrough and i think at one piont were 19 pionts behind Arsenal because of this.

So he took over the European Cup Finalists, a side who had won the League one year previous and could easily have beat Juventus if not for the bloodthirsty and vengeful Liverpool fans. The point is, he was allowed to build on the base of a fantastic side, Hodgson didn't have that luxury, and Dalglish won't have it this season - that's why he's going to fail.

But once again you have to make it out that it was always these terrible Liverpool fans, that had travelled all over Europe for years making it to European finals and had never caused much bother at all. And the piont is Dalglish was trusted to build that side back than and his managerial record is better than Hodgsons.

Yeah, alright, the Liverpool fans behaved very well at Heysel, it was those bloody other English firms causing trouble for Liverpool and Juventus.

Yeah, Dalglish was trusted, but the fact that Liverpool directors at the time trusted him to take over didn't mean he was automatically a good manager, it would have been the same directors who appointed Souness, who had to build on a side that Kenneth had taken downhill and abandoned in the middle of a season. If Hodgson had been appointed as the manager of that Liverpool side do you really think he would have done much worse?

Not at all, I don't even hate him, I simply don't like him. I didn't have any problem with him until he drove Hodgson out in January, and started behaving in a disgraceful way. I consider Michael Owen to be Liverpool's greatest ever player, and I don't hate him.
