    GCSE Results Empty GCSE Results

    Post by CoVkId01 Thu Aug 25, 2011 6:18 am

Must be quite a few of us on here getting them tomorrow, 10am in the school theatre for me eek2 Doesn't seem long ago I was sitting in there doing the exams.

    So, predicted/expected grades?

I've already got my A in BTEC sport so a C (atleast) in English is all I need to get on the sport course I want to do at college.

Good luck for tomorrow everyone Smile

Nah I actually did really well in my GCSE's, they're just useless. You get yourself all worked up about them and then they're never mentioned again

    Think you'll get them?

But you need to do pretty well in them to get into college/Sixth form (if that's what you want to do)

You just need to scrape through, theres no difference between an A and a C though, that's the point, they make doing the bare minimum acceptable.

I'm with Sean, GCSE's are pointless. To get into any college by me all you needed was a pulse. The GCSE's required were so easy. Then once you get there, no one cares about them anymore.

To an extent A-Levels are the same. No one talks about them at Uni. However they can actually change the Uni you go to, so are important in that sense. Although the Uni's are only important for their name. A first at Oxford is exactly the same as a first from anywhere else, except for the fact that 'from Oxford' is included after it.

I actually did pretty poorly in my GCSEs,I was only in the top 10% in my year. Saying that, I only needed them for about 3 hours until I enrolled in my college. At college I got more top grades than I did at GCSE Laughing

    1 A*, 2 As, 4 Bs, 4 Cs. Highly disappointing.

Sean it depends what college you want to go to. Some will require better grades. Mine want 5 Bs, so if I get Cs (still a decent grade and a pass), I'm not getting into what I want to take. Laughing

And think they're rubbish all you want, I want the highest grades possible. Dry Smile

Something a lot of people don't realise is that any grade other than a U, even an F, is a pass, not just A*-C.

Consitent low grades such as F in your GCSEs though is unlikely to get you into the college of your choice though.

Sean, wish our school had a 6th form. Cry Where you guaranteed a place no matter what results?

Yeah, but most schools and Colleges have a boundry of A*-C or B's etc.

Most colleges ask for 5 A*-C grades to get in.

What Sean's saying is that for most people you don't have to worry about getting in.

I needed 7 C's so I didn't even bother with them, I knew I'd get 7 C's easily with no revision and then they would no longer matter.
