Results Day today, share if you wish!

I did pretty bad, but I was expecting it tbh. Don't do much in class and did hardly any revision. Need to get my act together for the summer exams.

Am I wrong in thinking that a lot of unis don't accept Critical Thinking as an A Level?

We have F as well. But we skip E. There is no G or U that i've heard of before. Laughing

    Well actually we don't have grades after Grade 6, we go via percentage. 80-100 = A(90+ would be A+), 70-80 = B, 60-70 = C, 50-60 = D, anything less than 50 is an F.

Really let myself down, hopefully it's the wake-up call I needed to realise I can't just blag these exams with no revision and I do actually have to work for them.

    Got a B in Geography - 3 marks off an A but really I should've been getting a high A
D in Economics - no idea what happened there as I thought I'd nailed the exam but guess no revision cost me
U in Maths - expected but if I worked harder I could easily have got a decent grade

Resitting Economics and Maths, hoping for an A in Economics and a C in Maths.

How do you get an "U" in Maths? Did you like missed half the classes? Laughing

My brother got tha same wake up call Ben, he always used to try grass me up when I said I was revising even though I wasn't, now he did the same and he obviously thought he could hack it cause it worked at GCSE, but now he has a B, an E and a U he might change his tune!

Polski polski, out of the 9 maths exams I did for A level I got U's in 3 of them, it's hard you know!

Hmm, the education system in North American sucks hard. It is in the realm of possibility that English school is much much harder? A Level Results Thread 214775

Seriously, it is incredibly hard. It's not like I'm dumb at Maths either, I got 100% in two of my three GCSE modules. I should have done better in this though, didn't do any work for it and missed the classes quite a bit.

Possibly, although GCSE's aren't that hard. If you're clever enough you can still do well without revising. At A-Level it is completely different, they're incredibly hard.

Ok, I'm a lazy cunt who was gifted with natural cleverness and intelligence. I barely ever studied for any tests and hardly much at all for the exams. Basically I understood the lesson and it kept with me in my head till the test, and if I didn't, one simple walkthrough the question and I'm good.

If I were in England, how would I fair in these 'A-levels' if I didn't revise? shifty

Sound similar to me. Good enough to get by in most subjects but if you want to get a career out of it or even go to a decent uni you will have to work to get the grades.

It's a load of shit. I've got to see my teacher about it tomorrow cos I got a U. She'll tell me whether or not I should carry on with it or offer me and others who got a U after college lessons.

It's looking into arguments and debates and you need to know all sorts of flaws (about 15 varieties of them), reasonings (9 of them) and stuff like Intermediate Conclusions, Counter Conclusion etc. Also need to know indicator words that match certain things.

It's quite difficult because lots of the flaws are very similar so it's easy to get them confused, and they have weird names such as Straw Man, Tu Ququo, Ad Homenim etc

Results are definitely a wake up call. Gcse was a walk in the park and I passed them with no revision, thought these would be the same. Obviously not. Everyones the same at college aswell, thought they'd be simple
