    Is it fair that Blackpool and Sheff Wed had to play in the League Cup on a thursday, despite both having games on Sat?

    Holloway made a good point, that both teams wouldve agreed to go straight to penalties instead of having ET, obviously because the season just started and they have games in two days.

    Anyone agree with him that it wouldve been the right choice?

    If there game was scheduled then they have to suck it up and play regardless of if it is fair.

    If the rules of the cup say they have ET before going to penaltys then I disagree with Holloway, they should just get on with it.

    If his side didn't play so crap they wouldn't have had to go to ET.

    I think it was scheduled like that just for TV purposes. Was there any other League Cup games last night?

    Then if it wasn't rescheduled he had plenty of time to work out how he was going to have his best players available for the league.

    If he got his team playing ET would never have had to been played.

    It isn't fair but thats life. He needs to suck it up.

    No, that's bullshit.

    He wants to progress in the Cup and win the league game. He's got a days rest for his players before they play another match. That's bang out of order from whoever scheduled the fixtures.

    And on that logic teams in the CL should have to play Saturday no matter what what weekday they played on. Same with Europa League. Laughing

    Sorry there was me thinking he had more than 11 players.

    I said it was unfair.

    In this case he has to prioritise. If its fair or not doesn't matter...

    Deal with it. Has enough players to do both.

    Losing one league game doesn't automatically relegate you.

    Woah, he has more than 11 players. And the players beyond the first 11 are of the same quality then?

    1 days rest means some will have to be rested. It puts Blackpool at an instant disadvantage.

    He can rest players in the cup and in the league.

    Sheffield Wednesday are hardly of the same quality as Blackpool either.

    But he doesn't want to. He's been forced to rest players because some twat has changed their fixture to suit TV.

    @James - It was 11 or 10 men not a few.

    @Dan - I understand what you're saying.

    He would be at a disadvantage.

    One game this early isn't going to affect his entire season.

    I'm pretty sure they wont be happy if you field a fully weakened squad though, still will be arguments about it if it is done in certain games.

    Fact is, if it was Man U, Fergie would complain and the fixture would be moved to at least the Sunday, most probably Monday.

    I can understand if it was half way through the season, but right at the start it would probably benefit them more than disadvantage them seeing as they can start clicking and gelling quicker than other teams, try and get a bit of good form going.

    Some how I doubt Holloway would be complaining if he won.

    Is Megson complaining?

    He will be if they lose away Bournemouth on Saturday.

    They have their match last night, have to get the coach down there today and play tomorrow.

    What happens if Blackpool lose (with their weakened side) and they miss out on promotion by a point?

    Of course one game affects a season, there's three points up for grabs.

    Megson doesn't seem to be too bothered, just said the players have to get on with it. Their taking the plane down instead of going on a long bus journey.
