Re: Chelsea FC Official thread
Why would he leave Barcelona where he isn't getting played to join Chelsea, and not get played? It's quite obvious he's been assured by AVB that he'll be played. Mikel is our only DM that isn't injured.

You'd be surprised what managers say to get players to sign for them.luke. wrote:Why would he leave Barcelona where he isn't getting played to join Chelsea, and not get played? It's quite obvious he's been assured by AVB that he'll be played. Mikel is our only DM that isn't injured.

I know experience isn't everything but are you really going to expect him to help Chelsea win anything this season when he hasn't even played a few top flight games?
Do you accept my bet or not?

Re: Chelsea FC Official thread
Do you really think we're signing someone to sit in the reserves/bench for two seasons, then start playing him?
Does that sound like the words of a man who doesn't plan to play him?
I don't expect him to singularly win us anything, it's a team effort, and yes, he can contribute to that.
"It is a part of the squad where we are struggling with numbers because of Michael's injury. Oriol is one of the most promising young players in that position."

It's more likely then throwing him straight in the deep end.luke. wrote:Do you really think we're signing someone to sit in the reserves/bench for two seasons, then start playing him?

Promising means future and that probably means he will be a bench warmer while Mikel plays. He might get the odd run out in less important games but he wont be playing a big role in many if any games.
Managers say all sorts of things to reassure and persuade players to do things like I said in my previous post. Of course he wants him to play but he knows that he isn't ready yet as he is still young and needs to adapt to the English game. I think he could have a few months out on loan with a recall clause so he can be more involved when he returns although that does seem unlikely considering you lack depth in the defensive midfield area.
Do you accept my bet or not? I'm sick of repeating myself after Scott was ignoring me yesterday cause he made a mistake and didn't want to man up and admit it.

How do I not get it?
@Scott: Were they? Where abouts? My internet fucked up last night and it was late so I couldn't be bothered to fix it. I thought you would be waiting for a reply or something in the other thread.

Torres limps off against Italy in the 20th minute while holding up a Liverpool scarf, tears rolling down his face.

I can't see the clock, the Arabic channel logo is blocking it. Doesn't look happy with life.

It will be his calf or hamstring. He walked off pretty normally so it can't be too bad.

So.. yeah, looks like we'll be missing Sturridge & Torres for at least the first 3 games.

So it is a kinda serious injury? Is it in the news anywhere?

Re: Chelsea FC Official thread
I'm starting to feel a little bit sorry for Torres. I never though I'd say that, but I think I am. He can hardly buy a goal for months but once he suddenly starts to look good again, he gets injured. The guy surely deserves some sort of break.

Not yet Scott, suppose we'll get more news later.
But as always you have to fear the worst.

Might only be a small thing, like Johnson. He's only missing the Sunderland game irrc. He came off holding his hamstring too.

Fernando Torres couldn't hear and felt like he'd lose consciousness. I don't know why people were mentioning an ankle injury.
Hopefully true.
Yeah, supposedly he was about to faint.
