I would rather watch Arsenal in a Champions League knockout stage than a Europa League final.
Rather see Liverpool in the group stage than a Europa League final.

Your team to finish outside of the top four, thus not qualifying for the Champions League the following season. However you win the Europa Cup.
Or
Your team to fail to win the Europa Cup, but finish in the top four, thus qualifying for the Champions League the following season?
Nowhere.
4th is one of the positions in the Top 4, the claim was that this would qualify you for the Champions League, not necessarily. Everton finished 4th in 2005 and didn't qualify for the Champions League.

If you finish in the top 4, then you can qualify for the Champions League. Since the title says "qualify for the Champions League," I'd assume that he means win any qualifiers.ResurrectionRooney wrote:SBSP wrote:Where in here does it say finish fourth?Scott wrote:Which would you prefer?

He's just being uber pedantic 'cause it's not going his way

Scott, now it sounds like the team in fourth can't qualify.

If you win the Europa League, do you qualify for the CL next season?

Champions league. Winning the Europa will mean dropping out of the top 4 and it doesn't offer as much financially as the CL. It would also mean your better players will want to leave and you will find it harder to attract big players.

I cannot believe why they don't give they winner of Europa a place in the CL, not even a qualifying spot!

Qualify for the Champions League. Who's to say you won't win it?
Guest- Guest
I would always like to win a Trophy, and especially since its been a while since Liverpol won anything, but with the amout of money you can make from qualifying from being in the Champion's League, i would rather be in the Champion's League and then hopefully my club would be able to build on that by getting better quality players, and hopefully i would not have to worry about the Europa League.

Qualify for the Champions league. Fuck the Europa league. It's an embarrassing tournament to play in.

Qualify for the CL, get 3rd in the group, and win the Europa

If you're not good enough to get to the Semis of the CL, then that

If it was a scenario like us last season, where 4th looked like a possibilty and we were in the quater finals of the Europa League, I'd have picked the Europa League. Though I'd pick 4th now.

Surprised at the amount of people who voted for CL qualification.

I guess it's because the majority of posters on this forum support a team that would see the Europa League as beneath them. I would easily choose the silverware, but that's because my team don't have an ice cube's chance in hell of winning the CL if they did happen to qualify for it.dena wrote:Surprised at the amount of people who voted for CL qualification.

Win the Europa League. Let's face it we would be knocked out in the Qualifiers on the CL, so I would settle winning the europa league

I'd prefer Champions League football.
I know we don't have the best squad, but that hasn't exactly stopped us in the past. Also it's much easier to sign top bracket players when you can offer CL football.
In my opinion, rewarding the Europa League winners with a CL spot for the next season would make it more prestigious.

Even then I'm sure we have more than 10 fans of European teams who would LOVE to win a Europa league title -- fuck it, a title of any kind.

Embarrassing? There are loads of decent sides who compete in the Europa League and there are several sides who can only dream of competing in the tournament. Just because it's considered embarrassing for the likes of Man United, it doesn't mean that the tournament is considered a waste of time for the 100's of sides that enter.
